Could be a power issue from the dream to drive all three lnbs. Is it a clone 500 by chance? Even if it is a genuine dm500s you may need a larger power pack to drive 3 lnbs.
I'm really struggling with this...config 3 lnb's with a switch on one dish.
With the LNB's individually connected, one at a time...with no switch....no problems. I know they all work...alignment is good etc.
With all LNB's connected to the switch, I can scan each satellite and get all the channels sometimes (depending on my settings below).
Soemtimes I get it to work but then changing to a channel on a different satellite can take up to ten minutes...or maybe not change at all. If I reboot the Dreambox it will start on the new satellite/channel I picked.
The cabling is correct, I've checked this a million times.
If I disconnect any two of the three cables the remaining cable will work right where it is...with it's correct output/LNB on the switch..which I find quite bizarre. They will only work thru the switch one at a time if the other two aren't connected!!
I'm thinking it might ba a bad switch....but then I don't know enough and I'm also totally lost now that I've tried so many different things.
This is my current setup. Which is probablt wrong at this point.

Any help on how to configure the switch to actually switch and what my problem may be will bw really welcome. I'm getting another switch tomorrow to see if that's it or not.

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

What does the Amps required for the switch say on the unit?
As Cwispy says, the DM500 can barely stay awake with the PSU supplied.
Urban Legend!
Most DM boxes clones included will handle without a problem up to 32 defined LNB's (this is all I have tried on a Spun multiswitch to date) and at a push a max of 79. But I have defined 79 satellites 32 ways in the same manner.
The max limit is due to an Enigma (the core of your DM box) listbox error when you go over 80 items, which is still unresolved after all these years.
"urban legend?"
Hmmmm...that hasn't been what I've experienced here.
You either (put that clown humour face on);
1. gave up to early and tarred every 500 with the same brush
2. have different boxes and power supplies than we do
3. could not be bothered
4. clowned around with exceptionally bad clones
Heck the baby system here is 8 way (8 inputs) on 6 500's across the house so we use them every day in this manner, and never had a failure on any box we have tried. But we do not clown around all the time. See some of the screen dumps on the old site (and some on our site here in BKK), someone will have them still I am sure.
@cwispy
It came with a 2 amp....I changed to 3 amp before this post....same result.

Insertion Loss 3Db
Power 12-20v DC / 30ma
Power passing 500ma Max
Control Signal Position + Option
Address 15 Hex
Thanks guys for your quick replies.
Ok I can see a few issues compared to how I have mine set up.
It appears you are using 11300 LNB's so turn your 22khz switching from 'Hi/Lo' to 'Off'. You only need the Hi/Lo if using an universal LNB.
I have the threshold set to '11700'
Toneburst is set to 'NONE'
Dieseqc Parameter should be set so that the posts on the diseqc switch are:
A/A - port 1
A/B - port 2
B/B - port 3
B/A - port 4
I have included a few happy snaps of my config for reference. Hopefully this should get you going.
Leroy
LeroyPatrol.....thanks for your help man. Still cannot get it going.
I've put my screenshots here as I don't seem to be able to post pics.
For D1 it says D1 found but it sails past transponders I know exist...so something not right there. Then on the scan...it will just sit here on this screen. I can exit out of it though.
When I check the actual channels....D2 and C1 are all there.
Then I try a C1 channel and get "service not found"
D2 always works because it is on the first LNB (LNB0)
D1 is out of the question because I cannot even scan it with the settings above.
Now...if I simply remove any two cables and rescan the remaining satellite...it will work just fine. This works every time.
Beats the crap out of me.
I had it at a point yesterday where changing to a different channel on a different sat worked...sometimes....but it would take a full 10 minutes or so to do that!!
I have 30m of cable to the diseqc...will this have anything to do with it?
Why would it work with individual LNB's connected to their respective ports but not all three?
Ok so can I take it you also tested this diseqc on another STB and it works?
So to confirm;
1. Your LNB's are all Ku single's for 12ghz only and no 22hz switching
2. you only have this 4 port diseqc in line and no other switches or splitters
3. you confirm your LNB's LO freq is 11300 not 11700 like many used there
So this is a real simple one.
1. set up your sats as you have done already ensuring the switches and pols are all at default settings
2. set up LNB0 if a LO of 11300. HO of 11300 and threshold of 12000
2a. set up the diseqc option as version 1.1
2b. for LNB0 set this up as diseqc A/A
3. set up LNB1 if a LO of 11300. HO of 11300 and threshold of 12000
3a. set up the diseqc option as version 1.1
3b. for LNB1 set this up as diseqc A/B
4. set up LNB2 if a LO of 11300. HO of 11300 and threshold of 12000
4a. set up the diseqc option as version 1.1
4b. for LNB2 set this up as diseqc B/A
5. set up LNB3 if a LO of 11300. HO of 11300 and threshold of 12000
5a. set up the diseqc option as version 1.1
5b. for LNB3 set this up as diseqc B/B
Also it seems you have switching issue, your diseqc is too slow to switch from what you also explained above, so check the config I gave above with a diseqc you have borrowed from a friend.
You can force the pols but only as a last resort i.e. on D2 you are force HOR only by selecting 18v (but you will have no vertical) but if you have to do this it is down to the quality of the diseqc you are using.
good luck
Shows a univerial LNB right ..
A Ku singles threshold is 12000mhz not 11700mhz and unless it is a real old LNB most Ku singles these days are dual pol.
A good habit to get into is to enter the details as per the LNB (although not required) so you do not get confused.
CBand
Ku Universial
Ku Single [LO's vary, in oz one of the most popular is 11700 for the LO & HO rather than 11300]

there is an old miniHOWto here - which explains some of the LNB / satellite settings which I put on the old site (looks like this is never coming back) before the crash
@jonc....
Thanks for the settings. I seem to be able to scan all three satellites now with no problems. But my channel switching still doesn't seem to work right.
Something that's confusing the crap out of me is all the remnants of previous scans. I have channels in my list on the wrong satellites etc....or it's using more than one LNB when doing a scan.
Is there anyway to start with a clean "ALL SERVICES" etc? What file do I edit to clean this out.
There isn't anyone I know with a 4 x 1 diseqc switch....and I got the last one in the shop yesterday. I thought one would be here today from Auckland (I'm in New Plymth)...but it's not...so I guess I'll see it tomorrow.
I have a Maxplus that I can hook up...but I have not played with that for a few years....so it will be back to school for me on that (more headache!!!)
I might give that a try tonight.
I literally have corns on my thumb from pushing buttons on this Dreambox remote. Helluva durable remote!
This is all good....but have trouble sleeping if I don't have at least one win for the day Haven't had any for a few days.
Thanks for your help man....and everyone elses. I'm picking up stuff I didn't know just in the comments.
Now...to try to clean out these channels and start again.
You most likely have scanned the wrong satellite with the old settings (easy to do on the optus birds as they all use the same transponder details) see note below
3 ways;Is there anyway to start with a clean "ALL SERVICES" etc? What file do I edit to clean this out.
1. reinstall a new image
2. delete the old scans by hand and then rescan
3. (my preferred method) dload the data into dreamedit and delete the old data and then transfer it back to the box so you have a clean all services, then rescan
good luck
Yep....the channels were mixed up because of the wrong satellite....Solved.
I used Dreamset v2.13 to clean out all channels....easy and quick. Works fine...just reboot after each change. This a great program. Got a newer v2.15 today.
Got the "new" Diseqc switch. Actually it was secondhand off TradeMe (NZ's eBay). It's a Hills DiseQc v1.0. Everything now works flawlessly. Channel changing is what I expected it to be...working and quick.
Finally got my phoenix (another thread). Got two eventually....one from Sattronics and a read/write kit from Jaycar NZ with two gold cards. Will tackle this next.
Thanks for all your help guys. The weights been lifted for now.
