I think it's great, I've installed quite a few now & have had no serious complaints. Good value

If you are after a forum that is semi dedicated to TPG (and other ISPS) try whirlpool (pains me to say it, but they honestly have the heads up on ISP's) and most people here would have looked at the posts or are members. (not trying to pimp it)

If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.

Yep been on the whirlpool site, the thing is I'm with BigPond now & it's not on the rapid transfer list which could be a little problem been off line for up to a week. Have you done any new TPG customers' that disconnected from BigPond & how long did it take to get up & running with TPG?

TPG is pretty good, I have managed to move all family members over to TPG. Speed and quota is far more generous than other ISP's. Churning from Helstra can be painfully slow but worth the wait.

Also, if you are not a heavy land line user you can save more by punting the line rental for a VoIP service as TPG now does Naked DSL.

My old man was paying $29 line rental + $79 liberty plan with little pond (25GB). I got him on for $0 / mnth and for $59.99.

Double the allowance for half the cost.

I've been with TPG for 10 years, so whilst I can't compare with others, I've been happy with the service. Their call centre is a bit slow to answer at times (I think it's off-shore) but I've had no dramas with them in general.

TPG got into bed with Soul a while back.
I've been with them for about 5 years without a single network drop out.
My only beef is they told me I couldn't get 2+ coz I'm too far from the nearest exchange (about 4Kms).
My neighbour just churned from Helstra to TPG and has 2+ - go figure.
Someone at TPG is pissing on my back and telling me it's raining.

ADSL 2+ doesn't necessarily mean you will achieve higher speeds, depending on how far away you are from the exchange, going to ADSL 2 or 2+ may work negatively and you'll end up paying more for slower than ADSL 1 speeds. Hence the reason TPG said no, helstra on the other hand will take anyone on for a $$.

Look at the image that shows speed vs attenuation.

As you can see @ 53dB Attenuation on the line, ADSL2/2+ are a waste of money.

Hope this clarifies the myth that because it's ADSL 2/2+, it means it is faster than ADSL1.

have been with TPG now for almost 12 months and hardly a problem. Service seems fine accept for the odd glitch.
Good VOIP service and billing has been fine so far. Also good value.

sorry guys I could not reply to the thread as TPG took a week to get me on line again, man we hope the adsl connection is better than it's service. Now it's server has problems with the extra email accounts I require for my kids, I never had so much problems in setting up an account with a ISP. It can only get better we hope!!
