MAME for Wii

For those interested in playing the old arcade games using MAME, we can now do it on the Wii. The latest version has lightgun support via the Wii Remote.


1: Google for and download the file sdlmame-wii-v0[1].4.zip to root of SD card or USB.
2: Get MAME v0.134 roms.
2: Copy them still zipped to root:\mame\roms (root being your SD card or USB device.)
3: Run from the HomeBrew Channel.
4: Pick a game from the list (it shows 150 or so at the moment I believe)
5: Load game
6: Play controls can be adjusted from the menu as well as video scaling options under "sliders".
7: Play game

where do i get the roms from is it the 20 odd gig file??

Only 20 odd Gig's worth in that torrent if you download ROMs for ALL games. Most of the older MAME ROMs haven't required any changes in years that I have seen, so you can use any old sets you may have. Plenty of sites around with these available.

The majority of older games like Pacman, Galaga, Scramble, etc, have ROM sets only 10k to 100k in size.

Cant remember what version my romsets are but there is 1066 games and less than 5 gig.

Hi

I loaded this onto the Wii and installed a Galaga ROM (love that game) but i couldn't get the wii remote hand unit to play it.

Do i need to get another type of controller???
