Default Another "My PS2 will not play backed up games" Thread

    HI All,

I am after some advice. I have just installed a Modbo 4.0 into a V9 SCPH 50002 PS2. It plays orginals fine, it plays DVD's fine both orginals and backed up. It will even go into the MODBO menu and everything there seems to work fine. However when I try to play a backed up game it doesn't work. I am using DVD-r from sony using DVD Decrypt to back up the games. Can someone steer me in the right direction.

    Cheers

    Masier

    either install problem or media
post a photo of the install so I can tell what area it may be.

Hi Mick, no go on the piccys I can't get that finer detail with the cameras I have here.

As for the laser protection I didn't think my model needed it, as I havn't found a diagram for the install.

Lastly I know I am cluching at straws. I have checked to see if I have cross over a wire to another point on the chip. I have checked the wire for breaks with a multimeter. I have checked for shorts with a multimeter. I get a voltage at every point on the chip. I have "upgraded" the power to a multi core wire to the chip. The last question I have is how long should the wires be??

I am welcome to ideas on what could be wrong or how to take fine piccys with a A550.

the 50002 will need the driver chip mod they dont last long without
if you cant find a pic can post 1 when home in the morning
try a dvd-r move on same media to check if that is the problem
slowest burn posible is usally the best
have you used a larger wire for the power and ground

Whats appearing on screen, Do you get the RSOD (Red Screen of Death) with all backups or does it attempt to read the disc (So no RSOD?) but cant read the discs? What speed are you burning at? Does it read ANY backups at all either PS1 or PS2 ?

    Hi Mick

The power is on thicker wire. I have burn't a game onto the same dvd's that I used for the movie. The Movie works but the game doesn't, It comes up with the red screen saying to load a ps/2 disc. I will look around tonight for the drive motor mod.

Thanks once again for your help.

    HI Polarbear

I get the rsod with all backed up ps2 games, I don't have any ps1 games to try. All original ps2 games and all dvd movies backed up or not, work.

I can enter the modchips menu and change stuff, save and restart and the changes are there.

I have tried using dvd decrypt, alcohol 120% and gnomebaker. Burn speeds of 2x. But with no luck at all. I used the Sony disc that I used with the movies, so I would guess that the disc are not the issue.

RSOD would indicate to me that the install is faulty.

I've never had to increase power cable sizes for modbo 4.0, but in saying this I always make them as short as possible. I've done a few thousand too...lol

All the wires should be as short as possible to avoid any problems and always do install as neat as possible too.

Try taking a really clear pic and as close as possible. But make sure its very clear and use photoshop or similar to enlarge.

burnt DVD movies will play in a ps2 wether or not you have a modchip in it
check these four wires if you keep getting RSOD

    CX
    Reset
    A
    SX

they are generally the main culprits

    Hi All

Thanks for all the replys. The problem turned out to be too long wires to the mod chip. I made these shorter and it fire up first go.

Mick could I get the diagram for the driver motor chip mod.

Once again thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply and helping me fix this thing.

    Cheers

this mod ISN'T going to get your ps2 working, this is a laser protection method so your v9 laser doesn't shit itself prematurely.
