    Talking Tomtom maps for other counties

    Here is some tomtom maps for other countries that may interest some of you. These are torrents, so for those that know how to use torrent, knock yourself out ! (this is an external souce download)

    I am not hosting the files, nor does austech. The tracker is free and no need to register, just add the torrent file to your
    and start downloading !

    Thanks for the maps - can you let us know which maps are for PNA and which ones are for PNA.

    Looks like they are all the latest versions too - thanks again

    Roger, I was just thinking about it just then, im pretty sure they are for PNA, which you need a TT PNA with a updated navcore, however I don't have a TOMTOM PNA myself, so I can't test. But if you look within the torrent files, it has files like csspeech files and phoneme files etc... So I have to assume its TT PNA

    For example

    META FOR THIS IS Australia-106.meta, WHICH IS PNA AND RUN BY NAVCORE
    Australia/NZ 840.2562
    Cspeech = Australia = Yes, NZ = NO
    IQ Route = Yes
    ALG = Yes
    ASR = Yes
    PDA & PNA = NO
    Requires navcore 8.20x or greater

    META FOR THIS IS Australia-105.meta, WHICH IS PDA, RUN BY WINDOWS MOBILE OR CE DEVICES
    Australia/NZ 84.2561
    Cspeech = NO
    IQ Route = NO
    ALG = NO
    ASR = NO
    PDA & PNA =Yes
    Compatability aLL navcore versions

    So you actually have not checked the files ,just copied the links from another site without further verfication?

    Yes that's right, I just copied the links and made a thread ...

    DU, I can't verify them, I don't have a TT PNA like you. I'm into PDA and CE for the time being.

    Why don't you be a champion and download all of them being 4.2GB and test them with your PNA and let us know how you go ?

    The site the links are from are 100% - They WILL work and I have been downloading from that site for about 1 year ! All I'm trying to do is share, help people out and create more links for people that are looking for things/maps that are GPS related, I hope that is okay with you ?

    By the way, who said I didn't verify them ? I actually downloaded the North America map because I'm going to USA next year, but realised its PNA, so its useless for me, but useful for someone else.

    Sorry DU If I sounded rude, I know you help this community a great deal, but I don't like to be criticized when I'm trying to do a good thing. I don't recall others criticizing your tutorials or work. I hope you understand.

    I was just asking if only copied the links without testing
    To be a bad critic I would have said something like : Why are you posting unchecked links from unverified sources? Especially when everyone konw that torrent-traffic are monitored by almost any Australian ISP?

    But I know you only try to help an a lot of ppl are pi.. off with RS and Megaupload and scream for torrents...
    I could have posted something like "The new maps are out and you can download them at ...." and name my other forum ,but that is considered to be rude.
    As long as you can confirm that you always got good files from that website it should be ok ,but it would be nice to know the version numbers of the maps(that's why I hate torrent site ,most ppl there only upload to get bredits and have no idea what they do).

    So just keep going ! I think there are always ppl who prefer a torrent

    And by the way : I only have my 730 -no PDA or Windows based PNA

    Thanks for the reply - I had alook and think that the .2562 files are for PNA (won't work with PDA) and the .2561 files are for PDA (will work with PNA but no ALG, Computer speech etc.

    I downloaded the UK+Ireland map and it works perfectly with my TT720 (used DU32's latest Keygen 3.1G) - now trying the others.

    I must admiit it is sooo easy downloading using torrents rather than RS etc and sooooo much quicker - start utorrent and go to bed, next morning all is done. I love it.

    Thanks again

    Well ,what is quicker than??
    If I download torrents it takes up to 3 times longer than RS.

    If you use the RS downloader you can put as many files in there and let them download over night too ...

    But ,everyone the way he likes it

    The thing the me personally worries most is the fact that torrent traffic is monitored by all ISP's in Australia ,direct downloads from the filehosters are not monitored (yet).
    I know for a fact that if you don't set up your torent downloader correctly it will automatically search for more active trackers and some of them are fake and only for reports to ISP's and Media Defender.
    There is no such thing as safe torrents....
    Same for the old Edonkey network - you IP is always clearly visible when using P2P ....

    I'm not a premium user on RS, so my opinion and reasons may differ to yours DU, but I wanted to point out that for me the drawback of RS is that I can only download 1 file at a time and quite often I can't access RS as there are no available slots for "non premium" users. I then need to wait for 2-3minutes to start the download.

    A couple of times I've gone onto something else and forgot to start the download and it times out, so I need to start all over.

    However, I find the biggest advantage of torrents is that I only do one big download (usually overnight) whereas with RS usually the download is broken up into as many as 9 seperate files (eg USA map) and I have to go thru the download process 9 times.

    Also on RS, after downloading a couple of files, it usually forces me to wait about 15 mins before I can do another download. I am happy to tolerate this as I appreciate it is a free service and they want people to join up, that's OK and it is business for them, but torrents do simplify the process - for me anyway..

    Hope you see where I coming from
    Cheers

    I don't understand why people are whinging ?
    I supply people with a source for maps, and they complain lol

    I'm not forcing anyone to download from a torrent.. If you dont like it, by all means go to another thread or forum yeah ?

    Can people stop posting complaints on this thread, coz its going off track now, and people that actually want help dont want to read thru this.

    Thanks
