How about you give us the full story first ?
I know for a fact that these devices not just die...
You must have done something that caused the problem.

hang on.... im going to take another guess and try and figure this out...

did you leave it in your car and let the sunlight/heat destroy the internal battery or electronic componants ?

So again : a Tomtom does not just die.
I suggest you connect it to the PC ,push the reset button and after that the start button - the unit shoud now connect straight away to the PC.
If not you only have two options :
    1. use it as a paper weight
    2. give it to a certified repair center - might not be woth it as for the cost of the repair you most likely get a secong hand GO720 off Ebay.

Sorry mate to dissapoint you. I doubt you fixed the problem. It is apparently known issue with 720 and 730 (not all of them). Mine mewly acquired Go 730 is on the list unfortunately as I just found out .
The unit does lock up from the USB dock more often, but it also goes dead from nothing (in the car for example).
Some people reckon new Navcore versions fixed the problem, so if you have old version I suggest you to upgrade it ASAP. I just upgraded to 9.004 and will monitor the issue.
So far I managed to bring it back to life by pressing and holding reset button with simultaneously pushing power button for few seconds. That helped me few times already.
    Good luck.
