Default Can't access a website from one ip address

    Hi all.

Have a problem that has me stumped.

We have a company we deal with online regularly at

However we regularly have problems connecting, not all the time, but often, emails fail regularly also.

We can access their site via a proxy and from other pcs no worries.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers Bucket.

do a traceroute to the website from you machine.

    In windows command prompt execute
    tracert

    and post back the results.

So, by the sounds of it you have no dns resolving capabilities at your workstations and are relying on whatever proxy server you're using to perform that for you.

    Thanks for your help jimbo.

Not sure, wont be able to delve deeper into it until next week. If it's a dns resolving issue at my end, why can I access it half the time? Only used the proxy server as a getaround once to see if it worked as we were getting irregular ping results.

    :~$ host www.romesweethome.it
    www.romesweethome.it has address 81.208.34.140
You could always add a record into the hosts file on the pc you want to access the site from as a quick and nasty fix. But I would contact whoever is in charge of the dns resolver to get it fixed properly
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Thanks for the help guys. Sorry for the late reply....extended long weekend.

@Z80 Yeah I think it's an issue at their end.

@cwispy we've got an IT guy on retainer so I'll handball it to him to deal with, was just hoping there might be some easy to figure out reason why it worked half the time and didn't the other half.

    Cheers again guys
