Default How do I know if the phoenix is working?

How can I tell if my new Phoenix actually works?

It's a USB one from Sattronics. Got a serial/USB driver from somewhere after searching for hours. Seems to work....there's no problems in the device manager in XP.

Put my SK* NZ card in with NewCS on XP and get the same thing if the cable is connected or not. Cable is good...just tried it on an external USB drive.

The LED flashes once or twice when I push the card in....that's the only LED activity.

I'm being helped by an Ozzie member of the forum...but we can get no further. Trying to find all the software is like looking for Rocking Horse crap....but that's the journey isn't it?

I have all the apps now....GGedit, FmCard...whatever....but don't know how to use them.

I just put an A*r*ra card in there and ran WinExplorer....Analyse Card....and got this....which means nothing to me (except that Reset Successful looks good). Someone might recognise something usefull.

A Jaycar kit is coming just in case this Phoenix is not doing it's thing. Monday is a holiday here so will not not get it till Tuesday. That's too long to suffer.

    Help please.

    with that displayed...

It looks like it is working perfectly to me.

Now it is the owner that needs work to get the rest happening....

I didn't have a clue if the phoenix was working.....so now I know it is. I had to find a serial/usb driver....so wasn't sure if that was good or not. Problem is
I can't get even that far with the SK* card. Whether the cable was attached or not I got the same output.

I had an A*r*ra card that I decided to try .....that's what's posted here. I'm getting A*r*ra on the Dream already without the card. So that's not important.

SK* is the mission for now.....but I have to learn along the way like the rest of you. If anyone can help with that please see my other thread about it.

At least I know the phoenix works/sort of works. After this...I'm clueless. I've had a DB for about two weeks. I have the recording working....can create my own server...etc....al that stuffs easy. I'm good on a PC. Worked with PCDOS (IBM) and Fortran/Unix on a PDP-11 (anyone know what that is) before Billy Gates was on the scene with MSDOS...so I've been around a while.

Mudcrab...thank you....at least I now know what I should get with a card (A*r*ra) in the phoenix. That is of great help.

z80....thanks also for your comments.....now I need to find out some more concerning N*D*S and S*K*Y. (other thread).

there are plenty of dm500s images ready to go with your setup without the need for an external phoenix for an nds card, just use the internal slot.

A 7020 would be a better box for you with multiple cards of course.

i am sure fandtm66 will be along any minute to point you to an image.

    NDS in New Zealand????

There's a German made 7020 on TradeMe now....but I've bought the DM500s and some other stuff. That is good for now

I've seen some images here in the forums but been hesitant to try....thought they were only for Oz!

I tried Chieflets 4.31 image with my SK* NZ NDS card. A*rora would not even work till I FTP'd Softcam Key, Autoroll Key, Autoupdate.Key to var/keys.

There was nothing in var/keys except the nagra folder.

If these files were not there then I think it obvious that there's no way in hell the SK* NDS files are there either!

I had a PM from a member last night with 3 files but they did not work. Thanks for that man....was worth a try....and once again you supplied me with a little more insight.

    Any more ideas....anyone?
