yeh ive got one and they seem too have a better tuner in them that my samsung 50inch plasma , ie it will get a better signal than the tvs inbuilt tuner.
having too fast forward adverts is annoying when im used too downloaded tv shows but having said that it does provide very good quality in recordings.... file sizes however are MASSIVE , around 11gb for a movie and even 1gb for a southpark episode so if youre not just going too watch then delete you will want too be upgrading your ps3s hard drive size ( mines an 80gb , a 250 gb should be ok ).
interface is easy too use and scanning through uptoo a week ahead is easy too find shows and it even has a search option...

    Thumbs up

Insalled a 320 gig HD , loaded the software & tuned within 30 mins.
The user interface looks pretty easy to use and follow.
Have not tried recording as yet.Apparently the networks dont run programming the same times as the on screen guide.
Been advised to use the timer and set 15 mins either side of advertised times.
I thought it was just me noticing the picture quality difference, much better/sharper than the inbuilt HD tuner.
For the price of $148 and using a 2.5" Drive that I had laying around its a pretty reasonably priced PVR.

I have a 500Gb 2.5" installed in my PS3 and picked up PlayTV a few weeks back now, good quality and the PS3 upscales the image well, even with the SD stuff. Record 1 channel and watch another works fine but I noticed some stuttering whilst playing a game and recording...

Record and playback look as good as the LiveTV does which is a bonus, 2 negatives are; Programming times don't really work out with airing times & content saved to HDD is large but I guess that's not really anegative for those of you with larger HDD's.

I paid $139 at Dick Smith as they were price matching Target (first week of release).

FTA only. It doesn't have any video input to allow Foxtel recording.
