A post on an Israeli forum highlights the Israel defence force may be based on the Australia and New Zealand army from WW-II.
Seems the Ozzie soldiers where so well regarded they became the model for there own forces.

Maybe so the point re conscription is valid however as there seems little point wasting time drilling military discipline into people who are not in for the long haul. Perhaps living there and witnessing the reality the risks there country faces daily affects the resolve of their people. I am not meaning to take away from the Oz army in saying that I’ve seen the discipline on training bases that made me happy I was a consultant and able to go home at the end of the day.

Sorry, it's just my opinion.
Can't stand deliberate attacks on civilians for demoralization, and they are both just as guilty, in spite of the propoganda by both sides.
It's at the stage where nobody remembers who shot first.
But the Israelis are the ones with the most money, so are often shooting back with much bigger bullets.
