PS3 as a Media Centre

My LG Hard Disk recorder has died so its time to look for a replacement. Having looked around I am wondering if the PS3 with the Play TV would be a suitable replacement. For example:
Dual HD tuners. Record and watch..
250Gig HD, should be more than enough..
Wireless connectivity to my main PC with all my movies, I assume it plays .avi's..
Internet connection, not that I would probably use it.. But hey...
So to summarize it seems to have all the usual HD recorder bits with the added bonus of being able to play games.
If anyone has anyone has any opinions or thoughts on whether the PS3 is something that you can live with everyday and whether I'm heading in the right direction on this please comment.
