PS2 modbo 4.0 90002 PS1 games

Hey all,

I want to get some feedback from anyone who knows any details about this combination of ps2 chip etc.

My PS2 is a 90002 GH-072-42 and I've installed a modbo 4.0 running the 1.99 firmware. Most things work reliably but the PS1 games are elusive.

PS2 games: autoload
PS2 backups: autoload

DVD's: boot to the browser - selecting the disc will loop you back to the browser [FAIL]

FIX
Holding down the "on" button for about 3 seconds to turn the PS2 on will auto load DVD's

PS1 games: ps2 will just go black screen
PS1 backups: ps2 will just go black screen

DISC SWAPPING
Using the "hold the on button" fix to boot a DVD and then swapping for a PS1 game will take you to the browser where the PS1 disc will displayed as a blue disc, selecting this disc will take you to the red screen [FAIL].

Everything so far is tested and reliable, what's next isn't.

Now I have no idea how but on three occasions now I've managed to get a DVD to boot without holding the "on" button. When this happens you can disc swap to a PS1 game and in the browser it will display as a black (not blue) disc and will actually work!

Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get DVD's to boot every time without using the "hold the on button" trick.

If anyone has more information can they please post their results to the same tests and maybe we can figure it out.

I use the V1.93 Modbo4 & dont have any issues with psx games on that mobo....i think 1.99 is a bit buggy IMO.
