    Default DM800 coming

    Good news

    I have heard that the new DM800 (not to be confused with the DM8000) will be released soon. This is a high definition DVB/S2 version of the DM600pvr. It is expected to retail around $600-650. It comes with DVI output and like the DM600pvr can also have a notebook hard drive installed.

    The 800 and 8000 have been coming for years. I'll believe it when I see it.

    thats a bit cheaper than the 8000

    " The Linux HDTV box will be presented for the first time at the ANGA Cable show. The Dream DM8000 is available in black or silver. The RRP in Germany is €799. The dimensions: 430 x 80 x 270 millimetres (WxHxD). Dream is pleased to invite all those who are interested to see the future of television today to visit the Dream stand (J16). "

    799.00 EUO = 1,327.52 AUD

    1 EUR = 1.66148 AUD 1 AUD = 0.601872 EUR

    And that is before

    it is imported - customs tax - gst - importers markup - re-sellers markup

    *yawn*

    Only going to be 1/2 dozen channels anyway

    * BBC HD
    * Discovery HD
    * National Geographic HD
    * FOX SPORTS HD
    * ESPN HD
    * FOXTEL Box Office HD On Demand
    And, you will have to pay extra for the privilege... + extra on top of that for 'FOXTEL Box Office HD On Demand'

    It is a very competitive market, and FOXTEL will not announce its pricing and packaging details until we have confirmed the launch date for the FOXTEL HD+ service.

    Probably worth a wait i would think.

    The number of HD channels will go up later this year with D3 launch, prices for these boxes will eventually come down. Probably worth another look in a year or two ...

    Still if anyone gets one, i'm keen to hear some reports...

    Default Dreambox DM800 HD

    From Satellites uk. (ssems that the DM800HD) was presented in Moscow on March 6.
    06-02-2008
    Dreambox 800 is presented in Moscow (Russia) today!

    I hasten to share with all of our visitors first impressions of the receiver NEW DreamMultimedia model of DM800 HD PVR.
    -- The receiver has a similar size DM600-S PVR.
    -- On the front panel opens panelka (as the DM7020 and DM7020), under which lie the card for a single card.
    -- The front panel also equipped with a high contrast LCD display (a small version of a similar display DM7025 +). The display has a blue color.
    -- The receiver can receive Mpeg-4 AVC H.264
    -- The receiver has a built-in HDD to record including programs under the Full HD permission. ON receiver (Enigma II - on the architecture of software is very much like DM7025 +) allows the HDD capacity up to 500 GB. Enigma II is the Russian version of the menu, correctly displays the names of the channels in Russian and work EPG.
    -- The receiver is a replacement tuner DVB-S2, which can be easily replaced (even without special skills), on the DVB-C or DVB-T.
    -- Set receiver DM800 HD PVR invested much of the same remote DM7025 +
    -- The receiver is equipped with an external 12 volt reinforced BP and the current of 3 A.
    Now raspishem connectors:
    On the rear panel are: RS232, DVI, 2xUSB2.0, LAN-1 Gbit Ethernet, SATA, under modem RJ45 connector, Scart, optic digital audio S / PDIF and Fiber Connectors to connect +12 B from the outside BP.
    To obtain exit HDMI receiver complete with a DVI cable-HDMI (HDMI version 1.3), 1.8 meters long.
    Photo receiver and his description, we will soon post on the web site as a separate article.
    The first deliveries receivers DM800 HD PVR scheduled for 15-25 MARCH 2008

    Relaese date as prevously stated is about right.

    I expect to have the DM800 at the end of the month.
    Price not 100% confirmed.

    If the demands there I may try and offer a slightly better price then Dream RRP, but time will tell.

    Before people ask, the DM800 DVB/S2 tuner will not work in a DM600.7025.

    I hope to have some offical pictures shortly.

    The DM8000 is still a bit off from offical release from last reports.

    I wonder if the serial port will work with a phoenix on the DM800 ?

    Cause it doesn't have a CI cam, or a licenced Irdeto cam,it probably will not work with all cards....especially white ones.

    Hope they have fixed that, else they're going to prove to be a piece of crap like the failed DM600 PVR.
