Looking to get this off dealextreme:
and then use it with this firmware (that is recommended):
Is that the right combo to get?
I know I still need to get the microSD card, but I can pick that up anywhere easily.
Any other tips or pointers or what I should get instead?

For $11 I am going to give this one a shot.
Some dodgy PC shop has them for $40 I found out today, that will be my next stop if the Deal Extreme one don't work.

i ordered some off deal extreme about 6 months ago, they were out of stock but still charged me for them. I waited about 3-4 weeks but they were still out of stock so they gave me a store credit. I used it to order 3 items, 2 arrived and one is still on back order now. I just gave up and will never deal with them again. The ds cards i ordered were still showing as 'in stock' on their website and they were still taking payments when they had no stock.
the ten i got 2 weeks before christmas off of dx were fine. worked well without a drama. guess im 1 of the lucky one's thou.

hey guys i have a drama with my sons DSi we got him the r4 chip for xmas and when u switch it on load the r4 now when i get to where the games are and select the game or any game for that matter it says file not found...
first i thought the firmware was out of date... so i went searching found a few updates loaded them nothing... all i get is 2 white screens and on the top get a red outline of a memory card with a question mark so i formatted the card and loaded the original firmware and games that came on the card when we brought it still the same thing happends the DSi is running firmware 1.4A any help on getting the right firmware for the r4 would be great

update forgot to add the chip is ,....... r4i-SDHC Upgrade Revolution for DS (NDSi/NDSL/NDS)
went to the website nothing there seems to work for me is there something i'm doing wrong

is it a r4i or just a r4. normal r4s wont work on the dsi. after that make sure the games are located in a folder called games on the root directory, after that also make sure they are a .nds file and not .rar or a .zip file.

witch i think is correct should i create a games folder and copy over all the games to the game folder ???

Shoulda driven about 10 mins further to me, i would have sorted you out.
I would suggest this,
Format the microSD card "full format"
Reload all the files onto the microSD card, download the system files off the website printed on the catridge/box as they are all different.
If you still have the same issue, its a issue with the R4i or the Memory card.
Do a bit of trouble shooting.
Did parklea markets give you any warranty on it?
Im assuming the cart gets detected and you can boot into the menu? If not you may have a 1.3 R4i which won't work on the new 1.4 DSi firmware.

not sure about warranty went to there website did all that backed up and formatted it dozen's of times put all differant versions on it e.t.c at first i thought it was faulty as nothing seem to work but as ageno2gen1 said put a games folder in the dir witch it never had and hey worked a treat thank u so much guys really made my day now my son is one happy camper lol
do u sell ds/dsi's urban ?? and chips my mum is in the market for one she loves the idea of the brain train games e.t.c
