i don't donate to foreign nations that do not understand that decent government and infrastructure combined with population control would not see themselves in such dire situations when disaster strikes in the first place.
we have enough struggling to make it through the day through no fault of their own in this country.

I wonder if it is any co-incidence that the Sri Lankan government recently defeated the Tamil rebels after 30 odd years or something ?
It takes a lot of money to win a war , you might even get some change with the amounts we are talking.
Come on guys its obviously been spent on consultancy companies who were put on to correctly appropriate the money.
Most likely companies setup by Govt officials, specially to milk it.
Just like in the western world.
Charities, usually run by God Botherers & people with blindfolds on to the cronies within that benefit from the stairway to heaven they think they are building themselves.
It makes me chuff with pessimism when i see billboards on the side of freeways advertising for 'us' to sponsor some kid who needs a well in his village. The cost of that billboard would have paid for 1000 village wells and then some.
The there is the sponsor a kid at a shopping center, I rekon i could sponsor the same same kid 5 times in one day if i flew around the country and visited shopping plazas.
New aircon in offices around our major cities and consultancy fees and plenty of advertising & marketing.
How about a pack of condoms & some tubal ligations ..... i'll donate to that anyday.

I would like to see it made law that charities display and show on their advertisements IDs ect the effective $s getting to the target expressed as a percentage of a $1.
My mum sponsors a couple of kids in Africa.
She won't do it through mobs like WorldVision because they are not only god botherers, they only employ god botherers. See
But there are some ok non-religious ones like Care Australia.
The worst thing about the god botherer ones is that they are not doing the most important thing for these countries - promoting birth control.

I meant all of them not just the tin boys .
Me too.. I don't really give to charities as such.
I do help out people/family I know with things that they need but can't afford.. eg School supplies, the odd bill etc
At least I know that money is going to good use.

And to make matters worse, there have been recent cases of those within the organisations who because of poor overviewing of their finances, have seen many Thousands of Dollars taken from the accounts.
I dont think its very often much of the misaproriated monies are recovered.
