Default DM500s - Service could not be found

A few days ago my dreambox started coming up with "Service could not be found". I reboot / powercycle of the machine would fix the problem. Software restart would not. It happened a few times on the same day. Within minutes of itself. SNR reads 37% when it happens. AGC and BER read 0. Today it happened again. My Image is Gemini 4.2. LNB is a 10700 twin version.

Anyone seen this same problem ?

See if it works looped through another stb.
Sounds like you've joined the dead tuner club.
Was a quick fix posted by kavakid on the ond forum.

Has it been raining ? If yes, make sure u cover the RG connector going into the lnb with electrical tape.
It happened to me when it use to rain heavily, once i covered it with tape it never happened again.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear

First it happened on a hot day. Then today it was just mild. LNB was not in direct sunlight at the time. I will cover it up anyway.

I was refereing to rain not sunlight, but cover it up anyway.
You should look into earthing kits as well, maybe your tuner got a little zap and didn't cope well.

When it happens next time, carefully remover the lnb cable from the rear of the set top.

Measure with a voltmeter the voltage in the Dreambox socket.

It should be either about 12v or 18v . (horizontal or vertical channel)

If they are present then your dreambox is fine, if not you have a problem with the set top.

Put on the 2008 Pli image. See how it goes.

Setup on a virgin install only takes about 10 minutes now and that is with 2 providers and custom bouquets.

I will check the voltage the next time it happens.

Just happened again with the newest PLi version.

I unplugged the LNB cable and checked the voltage. It was 18v. I then plugged it back in and got picture right away. No need to reboot the box.

So it seems the LNB is locking up ? Do they do that ?

    Try a different power supply.
I have had similar problems and it turned out to be a certain type of power supply that was shipped with certain clones.
They dont supply enough power for the lnb
I changed p/s's and all is good.

Don't suppose your lnb connector is dodgey?

If you have 18 volts then psu is probably okay, but lnb cable may have a short....usually in the center pin on connector.
