    Default Internet Radio App?? PDA

I've decided to resurect my HP rx1950 and use it simlar to a squeezebox to connect to my HiFi Amp. This is so i can stream radio, shoutcast etc primarily and possibly further down the track mp3 etc..

I have had limited success with pocketmusic and was wondering if anyone else has a similar setup and when software they run.

One thing that shocked me tho was having to downgrade my wireless security settings because of the lack of support for wpa2 on WM5.0

Great idea for the use of a product that was better on paper/sales brochure that the real thing! Interested how well this will work, as found personally the wi-fi fairly sub-standard on the model we had!

If this project works please report back here - although I have the added problem of hijacking the "mobile solitaire" pda off my wife

Ok i gave it a good shot last night, i used gsplayer and also pocketmusic. Both could play mp3's properly, but the user inteface was not as good as you now come to expect with playing music. The music quality was good, and you can load up standard play lists.

In terms of getting internet radio working. I used playlists for iinet radio and 3fl from here :

It could load up the list ok, but i had problems when actually playing. Not sure if this was codec related (even tho both websites said they could handle the formats of the streaming radio. )

At the end i gave up. I had no luck streaming radio through the PDA. In a way the feeling is that the standard PDA has gone the way of the Dodo.

If anyone else wants to try, keep this post alive ! :P

Do you have a particular radio station in mind? There's a number of methods the stations do internet streaming. I got a couple of local Am stations, eg 2GB, 2UE, 2CH to work by going to their web site and following the prompts. The stations I mentioned all use either Real player or WMP. Some stations are up/downgrading to Flash. There's like 5aaa in SA which proudly boast moving to Flash but since then I haven't been able to get on. I haven't tried for a while either, might be fixed now.

i tried every single radio station on the playlist, all 121 channels which include the ABC am stations, so i was puzzled. Why none of them connected. I will have another bash hopefully this weekend, to try isolate what is the problem. I have connectivity, i can connect to some of them on my pc, via VLC.

I found on WM5 even tho i installed the CAB files for flash, i still could not access flash websites. So if they are using flash to do the streaming then possibly i need to upgrade explorer etc, and get flash working on that first or something. will keep people posted.
