Default NX-4 phone and internet issues

Hey guys, found this forum with lots of good advice and was hoping someone could shed some light on this issue for me?

Moved into a rental house with a Networx DAS NX-4 installed, landlord says it was there when he moved in and never touched it. Panel next to front door is not armed in anyway.

Problem is I cannot get any phone points in the house to work with phone or internet. ISP has sent someone to the property and they confirm connection is fine and that its something wrong inside the house. I've tried unplugging the alarm, and unplugging the phone cable inside the alarm box but to no avail.

Landlord and ISP won't help at all, both say not their problem...is there anything in the roof that needs unplugging? any advice? or do i need to call a sparky?

    Thanks all!

Usually the alarm panel is the first device into the house. If it wired correctly, you should be able to unplug the telephone socket (not the lead going to the panel) and the phone should work. If you have a wall plate, that means the mode 3 is probably in the wall, and beyond your expertise! Remember, only Austel licensed techs can play with telephone lines!

Next to the alarm is a hole in the wall and what looks like a cat5 cable is coming through the hole and into the alarm box and into the phone jack top right of circuit board.

Is there something else I should be unplugging?

Using my google-fu I was worried something like this might be hiding in the roof and interfering with the phones.....

    page 22 telephone module

Suggests line into house is going through a device like this before being sent to phone jacks...ISP said they are getting low impedence on the line suggesting their systems can see the phone line but something is on it/interfering with it.

edit: telephone module also shows an on/off switch and says should be in OFF position if alarm not connected? would this have anything to do with it?

Something sounds a little sinister, next to the alarm panel should be a phone socket mentioned above, where you can isolate the alarm from the phone line. If you have a CAT5 cable disappearing into a wall cavity somewhere, something is not quite right.

I couldn't open the link you had there so not sure what device your referring to, if your game you could pop your head up into the roof and see if there is a phone connection (mode 3) somewhere up there you can disconnect. Failing that you might be up for a callout for a tech to suss out.

If it is going through a hub, you need to locate it. Either way, you need a telephone tech to fix your problem. Leave well alone, and let a professional handle it! Seriously!

Thanks guys, called a local tech and explained the scenario and says he'll get to the bottom of it.
