How long does it take to get banned ?

My son has been playing XBox Live for over a week now with his modded console and hasnt been banned yet. How long does it usually take before they get you ?

I cant remember what the mod is , ixtreme something

No one really knows, there has been reports of people being banned within minutes of joining XBL. There is aslo a possibility that the bans have stopped until the next round which could be anythime, from next week to next year.

all the bannings have come in waves so far, hopefully should be safe for some time now but who knows when then next banwave will come.

My friend had 5 consoles modded with the Cygnos v2 only a few days ago and he took one online, it got banned the second time he tried to log onto Live.

So exploitable consoles = Damn quick banning

I have mates on Live with 1.41 Rev 2, been a month now and they're still ok.

its all about getting flagged i think

i had a console that i played for 12 months on no problems then the bannings

started so i left it offline about the start of november

signed in on the 26/12/2009 and it hammered my console instantly

i was just trying to get a codec didnt even have a disc in the drive

so my idea is you can play until the next wave then if your flagged your gone!

No one knows entirely, but it's beleived there is a timming issue with all ixtreme firmwares.

MS sends a command to the drive and the time it takes for an Ixtreme flashed drive to respond is slightly faster than that of a drive with stock firmware...

This is something that is agreed upon amongst the nerd boys in Efnet's #fw channel.

All ixtreme firmwares are detectable, the best way to find out if you're actually flagged is to request a repair via xbox.com and see how that goes, if the process fails, then you are indeed flagged.

My advice for all people has always been to stay offline with a modded console, but for some it is the knowing you can get banned and/or pirate online that excites such.

Some people have even claimed they can request a repair online from MS with 1.41 Rev 2 which is a 'non stealth' firmware, a tweaked IX 1.41 but it does not check stealth, I sell all my modded consoles with this firmware as it'll boot anything, waves do not matter, nor do games being on Single Layer either.

In the end it's MS' infrastructure and they'll catch everyone out and make a profit out of it.

the current ixtreme firmware has stealth checks that stop you from playing bad backups online

but apparently this is the thing affecting the timing response from the modified firmware when microsoft query the drive

so the new firmware is supposed to be nearly identical to the stock firmware to prevent microshit from detecting modified consoles

but that means there is no more stealth checking for bad backups so every backup you play on live will have to be 100% verified through abgx (ss,dmi etc)

LT in theory is meant to look as 'stock' as humanly possible and does avoid; Wave, DMI, PFI, SS checks...

However one can achieve stealth and correct values with DMI, SS, PFI, etc without using ABGX360 and by using an , ironically I have one for sale.

There are no better rippers than these as they are legitimate XBOX 360 DVD drives and leave you without needing some guy in the States or UK to patch games we have here.

I've always believed MS could tell many were pirating by the fact that PAL gamers from AU have games with files and timestamps identical to PAL UK (or other regions), which in essence makes one stick out like a sore thumb...

Edit: For those unaware, those SS, DMI, PFI files clarify where the disc was manufactured, as in which plant, which country etc... When these do not add up, and MS see a consistency of gamers tied to a particular country (in our case; AU) of the world but 'own' games from all over the place (USA = Region Free | UK = PAL), MS add 2 and 2 together.
Indeed the best method of backing up games and playing on Live is to backup those games you own (or those from your own country).
