    Hi Windy,

The problem we have is that the card is invisible to the DM, yes i did give cc213 and oscam a go, no joy at all.

Surely an external device such as Phoenix, Smargo Smartreader or Infinity should be able to read them. It's probably a matter of finding the right voltage or mhz.

I'm not gutsy enough to find out for myself, as I'll stick with the bluey as long as possible.

Yep - will give that a go, i have got 3 types of infinity toys which one do you recommend?
    1) smartmouse usb
    2) infinity usb
    3) infinity usb phoenix w/db9 port

I have never set up an external so I would need a bit of advice.

Emotions and BS they are like oil and water.
I'm in Victoria, sitting beside me is a good mate who just happened to come round for a beer at the time that I was reading this thread and he tells me that today he installed standard boxes and blue cards in 5 locations, he goes on to say that he still installes standard boxes and blue cards to far more locations than any other box he carries.
He readily admits that as an installer employed by Foxtel, not a contractor he's probably very close to the bottom of the totem pole in regards to information available but he has heard nothing of a card replacement program. There is, he admits, a push to get people to upgrade to the HD offer but nothing more than that.

As for being FORCED to upgrade my mate claims that's just pure bullshit, if a consumer wants HD he has to ask for it, further more when I upgraded my IQ to HD just 2 weeks ago (at my request) they simply swapped the box and I retained my original IQ orange card. That swap was done by a different installer, actually a contractor, and absolutely nothing was asked about my other 5 boxes, even when I rang to order the upgrade to the HD the phone liaison at the other end never made any mention or in any way attempted to upgrade my standard boxes to IQ. Based on the inferred claim in the first thread one would naturally assume the supplier would take every opportunity available to them to push the upgrade option but from personal experience I can assure you they are not.

Take from this what you will, in my opinion - nothing is on the horizon......

I call BS on the "forced" upgrade too.. perhaps people have been offered a free upgrade to the IQ2 box (from IQ1) and it is well known that eventually Foxtel do want everyone on an IQx but currently plenty of new blueys going out.

You're right! I have Selectv and plans to change over for Foxtel in the near future. I've just visited one of those Foxtel kiosks in a shopping centre and they have displayed all three boxes: standard, IQ and IQhd. I've asked what I get if subscribe for a cheap package and answer was standard box. And I guess this one comes with a bluey. Indeed they push for IQ+ big time.
Perhaps new orange card can't cs?

The members that have put this issue forward are (in my eyes anyway) respected members.
I doubt very much they would be bullshitting us.
Who knows, rollouts like this have to start somewhere. Maybe it's even a small scale experiment. Keep the complaints to a minimum if it doesn't work lol

    IQ/IQ2 = Orange card
    Standard = Blue card
    That'Is how I install them.

Although, I did see an Orange in a Pace 420 the other day. I didn't think standard boxes could handle an orange anyway.

    Hi All,

    In response to posts #48,49 & 50.

it was a forced upgrade,i had the card back in the original decoder when we had thunderstorm which killed the box when lightning struck the power lines nearby, i did not want iq at all, however, as i am regional wa not victoria, blues are not an option, they dont exhist here.

i have a standard platinum package with the new orange.

the new decoder is a pace tds480nf, i did have the 420 with a blue prior to that.

    cheers

Not sure if there is a technical reason why but I had a orange card installed in a standard box here for a long time without any issues.
