Default Is there a SD stb that will display HD channels?

I'm looking for a SD stb that will display HD channels, NOT display them in HD, just down-convert and show them in SD.
My MTV SD unit just tells me it cant display/decode them

Can you also change the channel order (like with a VCR) or do you have to put up with all the doubles?

Is there such a product or am I forced go to the cost of a HD STB?

Whats a decent quality, cheap box that will do?

You need a HD box to show HD channels. HD deocders will down-convert to SD if you connect up your TV using SD connectors such as composite or S-video.

With most decoders, you can either edit the channel list and delete the excess channels (71, 72, 73 etc) or set up a favourites list of only the channels you want.

Favourites mode is probably easier and it'll only show the channels you select and if you want to add back a channel in the future you can just put it in the favourites list.

No, it's not actually HD that you're seeing. It's because Prime HD (LCN 60) is often simply redirected to Prime SD (LCN 6). You can verify this yourself by comparing the PIDs.

On the other hand, the two SD PVR's that I have can record HD, they just can't play it back.

Tevion TPVR2511? Yes. The majority of SD PVR's can probably record HD (they'll just say something like "not supported", but still record it), but of course it's only of use if you have some means of transferring the recording to some other device for later viewing. In the case of the Tevion TPVR2511, DVX-555U, ATD DVR4800A, etc, a neat little utility called pvr101disk will let you mount (as in the command) the drive on your PC, and you can read the .ts files. From there, you can do what you like with them.

I have a purchased a DIGINET DVX-T658 HD Receiver .via a seller via EBAY,It worked for a few months. but the picture started to freeze at time, when the signals drops n comes backk to normal when the signals reaches 70%+.I have asked the seller, he says that my home may be in a low valley. so i added a Aerial booster, but still the same . It happen on all channels.
Someone told me to insert one aerial booster in each room socket.
I havenot tried but I will try,
if I have some spare cash.

Do the only correct thing and have a professional check and if necessary adjust your signal levels and advise on the required antenna.

Guessing won't fix any problems with DVB-T. You may never get DVB-T in some situations, and adding an amplifier is often the worst thing you can do.

Find a technician who knows what he is doing, as you are simply throwing your money away. Whoever guessed you need a booster in each room doesn't know his arse from his elbow.
