I suspect you left the file extension off (or have "hide known extensions" configured in windows), it is a common "scene release" xvid avi and because it is HDTV it would likely be a TV series episode, should be HDTV.XviD-FoV.avi

Anyway just burn them as a standard DVD data disk, your burning application may have a plain copy disk option, if not then copy the files to your hard drive and then in your burning application select DVD data disk, a file menu should come up and you select the files to burn and away you go.

When you put the DVD in most DVD players nowadays after a wait a file menu should come where you can select which episode you want to watch. Alternately you can just copy the files to your hard drive and watch them on your PC.

    Hi ssratus,

Thanks for that but I already tried that and have used about 5 different progs none of which recognises them. I have already saved them to the HDD and they are listed as NeroMedia player media files but they won't play on anything either. Have burned quite a few AVI's and this must be a type but for some reason nothing reads them

    Hi Mick,

Thanks but they are 770Mb each but size is not the issue as I can't get anything to recognise them before I can actaully burn them.

For a data dvd all they have to be is a file, they can be anything at all.

Grab MediaInfo and see what the files actually are if mediainfo does not recognise them as a media file rename one to whatever.avi and check again.

You can also grab vlc and see if it plays it, it won't mess around with your codecs once installed right click on the file an "Open with" VLC

Thanks ssrattus, have downloaded both and am able to view program...Yes. Now when trying to burn, nero says that the six files are too big for one disc, although i suspect it is trying to convert them from AVI to another format. Any program you recommend please?

    Cheers

use VSO ConvertXtoDvd i would do 2 files per dvd.

it will allow you to set the size etc then once done just use nero to make video dvd and
drag the two folders created by VSO ConvertXtoDvd and burn
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Why are you guys recommending converting them to "DVD format"? Most DVD players nowadays will play avi directly, converting them to "DVD format" does not improve the quality.

Have you tried burning just 5 of them? You said earlier that they were 770Mb each and if this is true then 6 x 770 = 4.62GB and that is too big for 1 single sided DVD. BUT most scene released movies are 700Mb each and you can fit 6 on one DVD.

As for DVD burners Nero should be OK... but depending on exactly which version (ie version number and differences between Nero Express and Nero Burning Rom) you have, there may be differently named ways of burning a data DVD... I haven't a copy to check but it is something like creating a "Compilation" in Nero Burning Rom or just "Data DVD" in Nero Express.

Also you need to close the disc, ie not multi-session, to play in most dvd players. So on the final burn page of Nero uncheck "make multi-session".

    or give or a try
