If internal should remain the same.
If external, depends where it's connected and what other letters are in use.
Will come after floppies and then dvd & CDs, then external storage.

    It is a internal drive.
I want it assigned as H. There is no conflicting assignments.

    Cool Assigning Windows Drive Letters.

    Found this for you.

Windows saves letter assignments, but exactly one assignment
per letter only. Windows searches for available drive letters
from C upwards. So, use a 'high' letter which Windows will
    never assign to another drive.

I think it has something to do with the partition on the drive. Windows allocated physical drives a letter using its unqiue id number in hklm\system\mounteddevices. The drive i am using isnt in the list so i think windows cant read its id number or somthing. ill try a reformat.
