Fishos are also starting to use it.
You can overlay Google maps with it also... might seem expensive as an app, but a good plotter is going to cost you $1400 and upwards... so i'd say its rather cheap
Navionics is also the sam ROM that a lot of the high end plotters use, such as Raymarine etc... If you have a spare $4000, you could buy one of those

I am just currently doing the homework and cant believe why anyone would buy one of the high end CP...they are just a monitor with basic navigation when you break them up...everything else cost to add on.
