    Angry Umm.. this is odd..

    Howdy,

Silly here did something silly, as one does, opened up some questionable software, and I am pretty sure 99.99% that my pc is now infected, Mcafee popped up about 3 pages of trojans and other assorted nasty's, when the file was being installed, so I am assuming its a rootkit of some type, here the fun begins, I've installed the following, and all of them have had varying success killing this bugger off

    1. It Killed My Mcafee, so reinstalled and it seems to be happy.. you never know.
    2. Sophos
    3. Malware Bytes
    4. PcTools
    5. Stop Zilla
    6. Ad-Aware

All is good, they all pass and clean anything out (mostly cookies now), but every so often, it opens web pages by itself, displaying anything from viagra ads to americas next top model's web page...

I've stop short of pulling the hdd and moving it to another box, but I might have to, Have done a safe mode restart and checked with all...

I'm out of ideas, might be time for a reformat?

    ReD

Have a search for a program called "sandboxie", although it won't help if your pc is infected, it allows you to also open questionable software

"Sandboxie runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer. "

Default Going to Just Format it...

Its still acting weird, now the vnc isnt working, and when I check, the event log states that there is something using the registry and it cannot access it ...

I give up, time to format...

    Hey Red,

Before you format, try as a last resort, a tool called "ComboFix'. It is freeware and instals Windows Recovery Module to successfully remove many spymare/trojans that the proggies you mkention could not do.
