360 not reading game disks

Just scored a relatively cheap 360 with the infamous 3rlod problem but since have fixed that but now having issues with the dvd not reading game disks, reads dvd movies and audio cds just fine so any hints on how to fix this?

have you tried to dump the firmware mate? Is there a drive key present?

This is usually a symptom of a drive not having the correct drive key as they will play dvd and cd, but not games.

this bit concerns me... has the drive been flashed? are you trying to play originals or backups in it?

No idea if its been flashed or not it wont play retail games only the ones with movie scenes

you mean it plays the xbox video??

as mick said crack it open and sus out the drive key mate, thats the go

yeh video scenes that are on the game disks,yeh will suss it out,also what concerns as someone might have swap the dvdrom over thinking its a straight forward swap not realising that you need to get the drive key off the old rom

Could also just be a weak laser....bear in mind DL is harder to read.What happens when you insert an original 360 game..."unplayable disk" error...can u hear the laser trying to read?
