We are a bit out of the way for that.....................
I ideally want want to learn how to use my programmer................so i will keep trying.
Once i have that going i might consider another if there is a real benefit.
The Jaycar Programmer is the most widely talked about Programmer on this forum, so you would be more likely to find posts about it here,
The Elvis Programmer is also talked about here,
The Mastera V programmers are not talked about much here (but I have heard they are a good programmer)
The Cas3+ & the Dynamite Plus Programmers from duolabs are not talked much here (but I have heard they are a good programmer)
use google to find a tutorial how to set them up & use them, (& search this forum)
also look for a list of cards that the Programmer supports & can Program, e.g a Jaycar programmer will not program Fun Cards,
& there are Smartmouse / Phoenix programmers (on Sattronics) that cannot program Pic Cards like Gold Silver & Emerald, so beware of them.
But in the End it is the fun of learning, & it usually takes a person up to several weeks to learn how to program a card.
Good Luck

Assuming the Jaycar is assembled correctly, (GW1 (great man) has pointed out that there are some faulty boards, if you are not an electronics expert, then you may have to send it to some one to test it)
Do you have a working Serial port on your Computer ?
Do you have a Full Serial cable (thick one) which is working ?
when you connect it to the Computer, you connect Serial cable first then Power, (unless you have it installed in your computer & connected to the Computer Power supply (otherwise you could blow your serial port up)
then just follow the tutorials on this forum,
e.g .
1. Use correct power supply
2. Set jumpers correctly,
3. install driver for ICProg
4. install .ocx files
5. make sure you have the correct settings set in the software,
6 . follow the procedure step by step
Good Luck

Thanks osirus.........i had a crack at making a goldie a while ago and posted for some help. I recieved much help and advice from this site. I just couldn't overcome my problems which are all in my posts "Farms Tutorial" after which i spent about five months working away so did not get a chance to try further. But am now dusting everything off and building up the courage for another battle. Am thinking of wiping all files and software i downloaded and starting again. Also i guess i will have to get a relavant satellite again. Thanks once again
who is selling the smargo on here cant find it in any recent sigs.
Ill have stock in about 2 days...

cas3 and infinity phoenix will both 'do the lot' and come with their own easy to use software.....
ideal for newbies and experienced users, no need for 3rd party software when programming cards from scratch....
Mastera V works well with support for usb and serial and programming atmel cards..
Hey, ill just jump in this thread.. I have a multiprogrammer v3.5 and looking for something similar for a friend. Can anyone tell me where to get them.
thanks
