    Default Null modem cable

I bought a null modem cable but since found out I have no serial port on my laptop.

The usb converters I have seen do not work with vista.

    What are the options?

    cheers

    what sort of laptop?

If it's aToshiba you're in luck, they have port replicators.

If not a Toshiba then get a Belkin port replicator....much better idea !
