Default Is a Hummy worth anything these days.

Am I better off buying a dreambox and getting rid of the 5410z? All I want to do is watch the NRL in Melbourne, I've been running around, editing hex files, writing to the card for about 12hrs now and am getting nowhere. Anyone have recommendations? Not looking to be spoonfed just chasing a general nudge in the right direction.

    dreambox won't help you.

The Hummy is your best bet you need to get the right card and all will be all white afterwards.

That's what I was doing until Imp was turned off on Wednesday, it is really starting to ride me. I don't care if I have to pay for it (I have fox for the non nine games), it can't be that hard. Even if I bought a Aurora card they would block the channel, unless I can prove I travel through the top end for 9 months of the yr.

Do cows give milk? A Hummy is worth around $200 on eBay. The older they get the more valuable.

What will a white card get him that he can't already get on fox?

    He's after "free to air" NRL........ie ch9.

I've never owned a humax so i can't speak for them, but if you have a dreambox you can insert your fox card into it and receive ch9 from mel, bri and syd. Or you can hunt around for some aurora keys so you can receive imparja. Ultra crappy picture on imparja though, particularly for watching NRL.

    Goodluck! Go manly.

What programmers do you have? What programs are you attempting to use.
I presume you are attempting to make a Goldie.

I've only got a Master usb programmer, I know they are shit but I bought it before I found this forum. The problem with it is that all the good programs only use serial.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the help I have rx'd from the community, I won't name names but you know who you are. I was a member of Austech a few yrs ago and then stopped coming because there was a lot of rubbish going on. It seems since the crash and subsequent rebuild all is good again.....I have much too learn and appreciate all the contributers. Maybe one day I'll know enough to be able to help the next gen of noobs.

    Hi CoopsOz

I’m in a similar boat to you. So much has changed over the passed 3 years and us guys with old Humax are like dinosaurs.

A few weeks ago I dragged Elvis out of hiding and fired up the old 486 laptop. Made up a serial cable up and tried to program a Goldie with Ghost from old detail getting around in other forums. Basically spent the whole weekend playing. Rifled through back ups Tutorials that I had download over the years to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. (the brains not to good anymore)

But No luck with the goldie.

All these guys now have gear that sound more like a personal computer than a Satellite receiver

Anyway I have once again got an interest in what’s been going on and been reading lots and lots across many sat forums.

And for me at the moment I feel like one of the Newbie’s. All this new information is like it was back when those of us old guys reminder when reading about MadMax first started coping Galaxy cards back in the late 90s. (If there is a MadMax in this forum im not referring to you?)

Any way I hope to get a goldie working soon as footy season is here
