Likely to be the brushes in the dome. If you got the patience, pull it apart, you may find the brushes are dirty or worst case scenario they are worn out.
I have just bought one of the above units (second hand) .
I control it via a DVR.
PZT function works fine.
Video is totally intermittent. Also, if the video is working as soon as I operate the PZT controls the video drops out and the monitor goes black.
When the unit is switched on, sometimes video shows and other times screen just goes black.:
Any help greatly appreciated!

Could also be a dodgy BNC at the camera.
First and easiest step would be to replace it and see what happens.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I did jiggle the BNC connector around but that did not cause the video to drop in or drop out. Also the 'RS485 setup menu' displays at 'switch on' in white against a black screen when there is no picture.
Operating any of the PZT controls, focus & iris all cause video dropout. Consistently, it takes place over a period of about one second as opposed to a instant dropout. Basically picture gradually all turns black atfter a second.
I found a useful link which is given below and outlines a step-by-step procedure to disassemble the unit. If you refer to page 7 / figure 2.7 this is how far I have progressed with the disassembly.
Just in case the link doesn't work I have removed the camera / board assembly from the metal housing.
What I need to know is where exactly the brushes are to be found?
I assume that when you refer to the 'optical slip ring', integral to this are electical connections. The motion resulting from operation of the PZT controls could easily cause an intermittent video signal if electrical rotaryconnector, electric swivel or electrical rotary joint connections are making intermittent contact.
To what extent do I need to disassemble the camera to locate the optical slip ring?
One of the earlier posts suggested that worn brushes might be the source of the problem. Are the brushes part of the optical slip ring electrical assembly?
Problem #1 Continued...
I also have a WV-CS850 has done exactly the same thing. Video fine to start when the PZT controls were operated. However, after about 1 hour being switched on the video started to drop out if any of the controls were operated.
The DVR I am using is a Colossal PRO 16ch, H.264, DVD-R

Problem #2...
Although I can control the PZT options remotely over an network one thing I have been unable to do is access the menu option to configure the camera
