mmmm this is the same problem i had with my cheap Chinese gps unit after many weeks i went to igo 8 i tried everything nothing i did would find a map doesn't help you any but its not a isolated problem
Hi
I've managed to get IGO, OziExCE, Route66, and GarminXT to run on many PCs, WinCe, & WinMobiles.
The ONLY problem I'm having is with my 2DIN china 800x400 WinCE5 unit - Ive created a window to launch apps including many GPS & games all running from icons, all work - except Garmin XT!
The problem is- I did have it fully working at one stage with my .img files, but now I cant past the purchase & go screen, despite trying variuos 'unlocked' map files (all maps work on all other devices) &using the SW.UNL file for my SDcardID or DevID. If I skip 'prurchase' & go to 'about' screen - it shows DevID as 31458080 and CardID as 1048657. As I said, it WAS working at one stage but refuses to work since I tried CityNav2010 (or any other unlocked mapsets - Shonky, CN2008, OzTopo etc). Could it be Garmin writes a registry entry that renders it perm locked? If I skip past the intro screen and browse map - it shows 'No Maps' despite unlocked map img files. If I go into 'ManageMyData > Mapsets' it shuts down Garmin!! Ive tried several versions - all exhibiting same symptoms.
Any thoughts?

IF IT DONT WORK USE A BIGGER HAMMER
Hoddo, you haven't changed the sd card???? - why don't you try ripping it off the sd card alltogether do a format and start again (this worked for me0 .
I had much the same problem on my 2din when I first installed it and started to play with the maps - it is much more twitchy than all of the other apps put together.
Just go back step by step to what you know does work - and keep at it - it will eventually work (I have it 95% working on mine (800x480 resolution) You may have a slight hiccup on the RHS of the display in 3D - many 2din's do and i can't find an answer to this, and secondly, the time is always wrong (can't sort this either)
Anyway, good luck ( I think its luck and patience in equal measure)

Thanks 2happy
Worth trying I guess - just such a lot of work transferring the 8G of multiple GPS software and map files etc - not to mention the 2DIN unlock software which enabled me to get into the system & create my custom launch screen with icons - anythings worth a go!!

I'll let u know how I go!!
hoddo, click on the link in my signature, go to my garmin thread... there you will find a keygen with CHECKSUM ERROR FIX .... have you been using that keygen ?
Hey Hoddo,
Why not just fiddle with Garmin by itself on a 2Gb card till you get it right???? THEN when all is well, transfer it over to your 8Gb card. saves a lot of time spent copying etc and keeps your main card at arms length from trouble (accidental errasure, corruption etc).
it can cause issues when you transfere garmin to another card, coz if his using the card id to generate the code, then it wont work..... BUT give it ago, stranger things have happened
Your quite right hollowman it will winge that the card has changed, you have to muck round and get the s/n of the card etc but once you have that you can simply insert that number into one of the files (I think it was in the mortscript folder - although I can't realy remember - old farts disease I guess!!!!!! ).
Anyway it was the princple I was trying to get across - as you know Garmin is probablly the most finnacky -- even with maps etc
Hollowman & 2Happy
Report on my progress - ur both right - but more to it than meets the eye.
I was well aware that I would need to generate another SW.unl key for another card.
Anyway - took your advice and transferred on to a 2G card and just kept it to Garmin for now. After getting to new CardID and keygen'd into the SW.unl file - IT WORKED!!
So the problem is that the CardID for my 8Gb card is only 9 digits not 10 - it appears Garmin only accepts keys generated for 10 digit card IDs. I also tried re-formatting the 8G card but the CardID is hardcoded & doesnt change! Thanks - at least now I know why Ive waisted soo much time! Cheers Guys
Holloman
As to that link for the checksum error fix Garm keygen - I couldnt find it?
Can you please give more clues?
Regards
Hoddo
hmmmm excellent... how did u "hard code it " lol, what do you mean ?
I mean - from what I understand - the SDcardID is fixed for each card - its not something we can change - its hard coded into the SDcard at manufacture. Unless I'm told otherwise?
Hoddo
oh yeah sorry i misunderstood
mmm thanks for that info hoddo that might be my problem as well the card id is only 8 numbers not 10 might have to go through a few sd cards and see if i can find one spitting out a 10 digit id
IF IT DONT WORK USE A BIGGER HAMMER
I don't know about garmin XT but I have used other software where I just added 00 to the front to convert an 8 digit SD card ID into a 10 digit.
Hi Nightshadow
I tried that (simply adding a '0' in front to make it 10 digits) but it still didnt work (the kegen SW.unl). Anyway at least Ive confirmed it to myself - I was starting to go crazy with the many hours spent waisted/experimenting. Its off to the local PC shop to get another SD card for now!

Hi Dogsfoot and others
I'm please to report that Hollowman's suggestion worked - I used the Keygen1.5 + checksum error fix (using my less than 10 digit CardID) and it now works on the 8GB card. My only minor problem now is that my 800x480 Landscape screen doesnt appear to be used correctly (sides incompletee & greyed out) - any suggestions appreciated - possibly QueBmp240.dll issue?
