Hi I have A big prblem with my computer at the momment I was on line yesterday when a message came up telling me that I had virus attacking my credit account and about 5 minutes later a security screen came up asking me to put in a code which me or my partiner don't know and the virus has now taken over the computer. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get rid of it. We are running windows xp 2000.

with a virus like that i wouldnt risk fixing it, just format and reinstall operating system(windows 2000).

can you remove the hd and virus scan it with a good computer?

or tell your boot menu (f2 or f10 on startup i think)to boot from disk drive

then have the xp disk in the drive and follow the prompts

it will reformat it and install a fresh copy

boot into safe mode (f8 on boot)
can u put malwarebytes on it?
    run that in safe mode
before rebooting, goto start, run, type in: msconfig
    tick"selective startup" click "startup tab"
    untick all shown,apply,ok,reboot
now you should be able to boot normally
run atf or ccleaner if you can get net

    update, malwarebytes, run it again
    reinstall antivirus

I wondered what program generated the messages you got, what you describe it's malware.

Malwarebytes is what I use and Avast for viruses, both free.
