Do they have an ADSL2 exchange where you are moving to ? I dont think they use Telstra.

Have a look at engins bundled deals , they have pstn as well as voip.

no it is adsl 1 , the above plan was the wrong link , the bundled price for the same thin g with adsl1 is 119.95/month which is still pretty good i spose .
Telstra are frikken shocking , i contacted primus( i think )and on their own network could get great speeds and dl's for 50/month , but because it is telstra the same plan would cost 119/month !!! for internet only .

so yeah the above link is the same plan but i would be paying 119.95/month
so that is 30GB of data , no offpeak , throttled to 512 when over . Free local calls , free std , $1.50 capped mobile , 30 cents for 13 numbers and phone line rental included . If or ever it gets upgraded to adls2 , no charge to change over

so is there any better out there atm ?
    any better deals out there

No thats fine for voip. Your Engin rejection in your last post is probably an ADSL rejection , not a rejection of voip.

    I use:

    Internode Easy Broadband 1500/256 $49.95
    Telstra Homeline Budget $20.95
    Engin National $14.95

I am going to throw some extra considerations into the mix, as feel you may miss something of value

    ISP
    # Does ISP have reasonable limit for fees (guess you answered this one by comaprison with telstra).
    # Does ISP have free download quota (i.e. download of any current Linux distrubution and access to free quota updates). This is only important if you find value in those extra services that an ISP provides.
    # Have quality and minimal downtime/disruptions to service.
    # Responsive to customer service.

    VOIP
    # Are you still using your tradional landline or after a pure Voip service
    # What is your volume usage of calls - as is a monthly plan of value. This usually equates to x free local calls, x free mobile calls per month.
    # Do you require a DID (receive calls form the telphone network to your Voip number).

Inportant note: some ISP's will actually take over as the PSTN provider on your normal phone - which has pros and cons, as makes it hard to come up with exactly what plan is best!

May also pay to look at having a different Voip provider to your ISP, although imagine bundling could be cheaper - but always best to compare!

As per the question regarding Voip quality:
ADSL 1.5 works well out our household (awaiting ADSL2+) although found it a bit choppy when using Usenet and Voip at the same time, although not as bad when a few years back had 512!

Sanity, that should read $21.95/mth, unless Telstra were charging me a premium

    isp
seems quite good, has quite a few extras that are not counted and uploads are free as well
they seem to have minimal downtime according to whirlpool and not a lot of complaints
customer service seems ok , however I have only rang sales dept

    voip
probably get it bundled with landline, used voip for awhile back on 256 , the price includes all local and std calls which i make quite a few of as well as line rental , capped mobile calls are a bonus as well

we are currently using telstra on some 80/month plan with foxtel on top of that and exetel adsl 2 , so for all that it costs us approx 220/month
now I figure we will save some $$$ as 120/month for phone and internet and then 66/month with austar (why is austar a little cheaper than foxtel??)

all that said I am waiting on telstra to ring me up tommorow to see what they can offer

You can only get Foxtel or Austar depending on your area , they wont install in each others areas. Or are you moving from a Foxtel area to an Austar area ?

*Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of your car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of you car.
*Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

thnaks for all that have answered , i think the best value for me right now would be westnet for internet and phone on adsl1
internet 30 on and 30 off . relatively cheap ph calls for 89/month , If we pull our fingers out and actually start using our mobiles and the caps we should not need to make a lot of ph calls form the landline
