Whats would cause this?

Long story short I'm hooking up the 8ch CCTV system at work after about 2 years offline, I can't really tell you why it went off line other then the DVR/LCD combo shit itself, I bought another standalone DVR from SWANN and hokked it all up and I only have 3 of the 8 camera's online

3 online all have a lines running down slowly like an old "National Panasonic" TV, like V hold and H hold settings...

5 offline all just tell me "no signal"

I'm new to CCTV so I'm asking where I should start looking? What should I do? and what would be the possible causes?

any help would be greatly appreciated, and if it's something I can't manage myself I might call one of you in to fix the problem for me, as I needit up and running soonish.

power supply fault feeding the cameras

It sounds like a power supply problem, the lines scrolling down the picutre on the cameras that are working are more than likley noise bars comming from PSU.

On the ones that dont show any picture you should use a meter & check the voltage on the power connect at the camera & then check for continuity of the power cable.

I would go for an earth loop.


Install a hum bug on each coax

Would be disconnecting all cameras from power and video then connecting them one at a time if the problem persist it will be power supply if only one camera it could be an earth loop or induced 50 Hz

checked it out today

4 x cameras running off the same power were not plugged in, feel a little stupid because the power supply is about 1.5mtrs away from the DVR and I never once twigged until I started looking for the power supply...

1 x camera has a faulty power supply, but I have a spare, just gotta hook it up,in the early days it used to be a 10ch system apparently so I have a few spares.

3 with the lines running down are still doing it after a basic check, clean and re-power so I'll look into these humbug things
