weird adsl problem
hi have a bro inlaw trying to set up adsl.
the modem wont connect to the line, dodo have comfirmed that there is adsl on the line.
when the modem is taken to another house, works fine.
they have tried it with no other phones on, no alarm system and two different netgear modems which work fine otherwise.
tried both ppoe and ppao
i live 1200 km's away and they aren't tech enough to go through connection logs. but why should it not work?
when the modem is taken to another house, but the sam account it syncs up in under a minute

whats the lines lieek in the house ?
how many outlets, distance?
Try hoking the modem up to the direct line in.
without the splits to the other phones.
Should work, if not then could be a issue with dodo.
3 outlets in house, dodo got telstra to check line, app. all ok. can log in at another dodo adsl enabled house on the username password.
there is a 1800 number they ran to confirm the service was on that line.
would be around 1500m to the exchange i guess.
to me seems to be a line issue some where?
Does the netgear have an ADSL status page where the line SNR margin can be seen? The bigger the better.
I have a d-link and have:
Modulation: G.dmt
Annex Mode: ANNEX A
Local/Remote Tx Power: 0.0 dB / 0.0 dB
Item Downstream Upstream Unit
SNR Margin 39.0 24.0 dB
Line Attenuation 20.0 18.0 dB
Loss of Signal 0 0
CRC Errors 0 0
Maybe Telstra has connected up the wrong pairs and he isn't getting ADSL.

on of two things given what you have tried:
1. ADSL/Line Fault - need to lodge with DODO
2. Internal Cabling in the house is stuffed.
Does the modem get sync at all?
