Forgot your password/s? Think you can get in like you did with XP?
Ok so you're thinking "ill just boot up in safe-mode and login as admin" - ok sure but what if the admin account isn't active? what if it had a password too?
But what if it is active? "ill just change the admins password with the windows 7 cd" - ok sure but that will only change the password for the live windows that's running, not the computers - completely useless!
O shit!
At least you can get to the files with the windows 7 cd in recovery mode (which i think is a major flaw in windows)
But you really want to get in...
You can try booting up something that will reset the password but those might not work, cracking it wont work if its a good pwd, replacing sam files is just stupid and most of these methods will leave you with encrypted files (to my knowledge).
HOW THEN!?
ok! heres MY method.
Boot up a live linux cd or the windows 7 cd (when the computer is starting hit f12)
for linux:
Code:
cd /mnt
cd sda1
cd windows
cd system32
mv utilman.exe utilman.old
cp cmd.exe utilman.exe
reboot
for windows (after entering recovery and starting cmd):
Code:
c: (or whatever it is)
cd windows
cd system32
copy utilman.exe utilman.copy
copy cmd.exe utilman.exe
overwrite: yes
shutdown -r
when you get to the login screen press windows+u
cmd will open!
type:
Code:
net user (your account) (newpassword)
enter the new password
login
enter cmd again
Code:
del utilman.exe
ren utilman.copy utilman.exe
exit
done!
BUT WHAT IF MY BIOS IS LOCKED AND WONT LET ME BOOT ANYTHING?
reset the bios by removing the battery etc - read the motherboards manual smile.gif
or take out the hd, move it to another computer and do it.
WHAT IF THE CASE IS LOCKED?
hrmmm
WHAT IF THE HDS ARE LOCKED AND ENCRYPTED?
you're ####ed.
Note: I'm sure there's other ways to do this but heres mine!
Feel free to troll my thread - I'm sure there's somebody out there whom has found this useful
