at the recent Wyong amateur radio/experimenters/sat tv field day there were second hand $5 GPS heads available in the carboot sellers area,
Part numbers/ID are :G108FB4X23202C ROJONE 2003 03 GPS-2432 8
and FASTRAX 2003 02
to make these units go they require 12 or 13 volts on the red wire , ground is black and data output is NMEA and comes out of the purple wire at rs232 levels. its that simple.
they were used in cars for tracking. the dc supply assumes its from a car battery as its got a onboard switching regulator inside.
i have taken apart one of the units i got. its a white rectangle 30mm by 30mm and about 12mm thick with a black data cable coming out of one side of it.
hope you got some and use them for aprs tracking etc
cheers
