Default Divx codec for MacOs X 10.5.6 PPC

Unfortunately, having applied little attention to Mac Os since 10.2, my currency is somewhat limited. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone can lead me to a known working (free) codec for Divx videos under Quicktime 7 (MacOs X 10.5.6 PPC). At my daughter's request I compressed some of our home movie DvD's into Divx (MP4/Mp3, though I can't recall if that was with Divx 4 or 5) on my PC but I only see the video, there is no sound when I view them on her computer. Separately, both files in the Mp4 and Mp3 format work well, as do the original digital camera Avi files used to create the DVDs.

    Cheers

Thanks. I tried downloading some others, but they didn't work. This link appears to be specifically addressing the issue of no audio. I will give it a go tonight and post my results.

    Default Perian component works

    Just to update:

The A52 avi audio codec for Quicktime listed on the above page has been discontinued. The developer has incorporated that codec into a package called Perian - "a free, open source QuickTime component that adds native support for many popular video formats". -

Anyway, Perian worked like a charm!
