    Default Downgrading a iphone 3.1.3 to 3.1.2

OK - not sure if this works downgrading

but.......I managed to brick my iphone (seriously brick it) It would not boot at all so I had to go into recovery mode and I wanted to stick with 3.1.2 but Apple have decided to stop 3.1.2 and only allow 3.1.3 (non jailbreakable) so...... after many "oh nooooo" moments I found this and followed it and managed to unbrick, running 3.1.2 and going beautifully!

planning on doing this with a 3.1.3 ipod in the next few days

    thought I should share

Sounds like you were have fun....Not!
I too have had a great time with my iphone, the fuc*&^ updated whilst I had a numpty moment and I have had a bu**er of a time to restore it back to 3.1.2.
I have succeeded but CAN’T unlock it from "Telecom"

The baseband changed so be very careful not to upgrade to 3.1.3 once the baseband has been changed you cannot undo this.....yet

Word is someone has been able to and this has been verified by the dev team BUT their keeping this under wraps for the new 4.0 or Ipad.

    So I've read!

My advice is to upload your ECID/SHSH to the cydia site for future use. I didn’t and now I'm screwed.

    Hey freakee1,

Was your iPhone originally jailbroken ? Or did it go to 3.1.3 without it ever being broken ?

Did you go down the path of getting your iPhone's ECID and then setting up your own 'apple signature/response' server ? And then restoring 3.1.2 firmware ? as per the guide you linked to ?

Can anyone explain the subject 'baseband' with these things ? The modem firmware on the one I'm looking at is now 05.12.01, obviously with 3.1.3, does that mean that it will remain locked to the carrier ?

From what I've read, (which isn't enough yet), I think the baseband is related to unlocking the marriage, not the jailbreaking - is that right ?

So if one wasn't too concerned about unlocking to use any carrier, jailbreaking using the method linked to above should be ok ? Can anyone confirm ?

    Thanks,

    Jim.....

I was lucky enough to jailbreak it before I stuffed it up - cydia had a copy of my ECID and there for I managed to create a server for I tunes to talk too, and was happy to use 3.1.2 firmware

My phone wasn't 3.1.3 before I bricked it

    Thanks for the reply freakee.

    So just to clarify,..

If an IPhone has gone to 3.1.3 without ever being jailbroken thus the SHSH file is not available. And given Apple are no longer replying/signing 3.1.2 requests, there's no way to get it jailbroken now is there? Until after next major release as all are suggesting out there ?

You can use custom firmware 3.1.3 which already has been jb. But you not be able to go back to 3.1.2
sinfuliphone and xsellize have the custom jailbroken firmware with cydia already installed.
You can also search for idongle it's for the people that have a tethered jailbreak.

My understanding of the process that I went through to get my phone back to life is as such..... Originally jailbroken using blackra1n, this installed cydia and as such the ECID was sent to Cydia. This allowed me to get the 64k bit file from Cydia and create a mini web server on port 80 (using Tinytss) and this gave itunes the go ahead to upgrade the firmware (leave it at 3.1.2)

so.... cut this story short - I believe you don't need to back up the version you have, just need the ECID file and miniserver to fool itunes to do want you want when you want

From what I have read, that's what I've also concluded. No SHSH file then you can't get 3.1.2 on there.

Rock and cyndia have an app to tell Apple and itunes your running 3.1.3 when your running 3.1.2
Stops itunes hastling you to upgrade or accidently doing it yourself.
I put it on, works a treat, stopped getting anoying message to upgrade.
