    Default DM500 issues

    Im having a few separate issues that I hope you can help with.

    Multiple DM500's setup using a quad LNB.

    1. I have a quad LNB (not quattro) Fortec Star FSKU-4v

    Specs:
    Input frequency range from 10.70 GHz ~ 12.75 GHz
    LO Frequency: L-9.75 GHz H-10.6GHz.

    The issue I am having is that with a sub installed I can only get a picture for a short while then it freezes and cannot get signal lock after that.

    The LNB settings I tried are both this setting:

    and also this setting

    to no avail.

    2. If and when I get signal on one of the dreams, when I turn the second one on the first dream loses its picture (picture freeze)? Has this got something to do with LNB power - I can seem to find this setting in the dream (to switch LNB power on and off)

    3. Regarding CS settings:

    This is what I entered on the server at /var/tuxbox/config/newcs.xml

    <newcamdserver>
    <enabled>Yes</enabled>
    <name>newcs</name>
    <deskey>01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14</deskey>
    <user>
    <name>dream1</name>
    <password>password_here</password>
    <au>on</au>
    <sidoverride>on</sidoverride>
    </user>
    <user>
    <name>dream2</name>
    <password>password_here</password>
    <au>on</au>
    <sidoverride>on</sidoverride>
    </user>
    <user>
    <name>dream3</name>
    <password>password_here</password>
    <au>on</au>
    <sidoverride>on</sidoverride>
    </user>
    ---------------

    On client box - var/etc/cccam.config

    N: 192.168.1.160 6667 dream1 password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
    N: 192.168.1.160 6666 dream1 password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    where 192.168.1.160 = the main dm500 server that has the sub

    dream1 password = the identity of the client

    is this correct?

    4. I only just noticed this - I have noticed all the dm500s have the same MAC address (the box and sticker under the DM500 are unique however. I read this post here but it doesnt work for me. I ended up putting the address on the sticker of the dream in the init file (no extension) and placed it in the /var/etc/ folder then rebooted... nothing. Same address as before.
    This would also explain why the second box freezes when I bought it up after the first.

    Guys I am new to this and want to learn as much as I can - I guess the Austech site getting hosed couldnt have happened at a worse time.

    Any help/suggestions is appreciated.

    1. OK I know it may sound stupid but do all your dream clients have diffrent usernames /Passwords.

    2. Mac Address - download my init file post on megaupload on this forum and place it in folder it say.

    3. Also try your lnb all 3 settings to 10700.

    why do you have 2 N: entries in your cccam.cfg refering to the same box with different ports? I don't think this is your issue though.

    Hi Chief

    1. Ive only started with two boxes (lets not complicate things with 4 straight off the bat . Are you referring to login and password used to access the box EG root/dreambox? But my biggest issue is to first sort out the MAC addressing.

    2. I tried that and it didnt work for me. System info reports the same MAC address regardless.

    3. Just tried this but same result. I just realised though that Vertical streams seem ok but shits itself if I select a Horizontal stream.

    I thought that both had to be there... Do I remove one?

    I would guess that newcs is configured to allocate port 6666 for the external serial whilst port 6667 is for the internal card reader.

    Try changing all the LNB values to 10700

    I would then be checking your LNB alignment.
    Specifically the skew as I had a similiar issue to yours.

    like i said download file and place it in /var/etc/

    you must reboot then go to Blue-panel - System infos - User scrit - ifconfig
    to see the mac address

    Download here

    Also Remove the 6666 port line

    Yep I did it but didnt realise I had to go as far as 'User scrit - ifconfig' I only went as far as the System Info screen where the MAC address never changed.

    Your box is setup for a universal LMB to set the dreambox for a 10700 LMB you need to select non-standard user defined configuration in the satellite configuration menu and then manually set lof/l and lof/h to 10700 and leave threshold alone

    Ok Im making some headway

    I changed my LNB to my old dual output and now both vertical and Horzontal are fine. Faulty LNB !!

    Okay whats left. Well Im able to watch all programs on the DM500 with the sub. The second is also working now too

    There is a problem however, picture on both DM500's pixellates and drops out for about 20 secs then it comes back again. I know it must be a tweak or something..

    BTW am using CCcam-2.0.0/NewCS1.20 combo per the original settings as purchased from Fernbay.

    Suggestions ?

    Oh and thanks for the help so far

    Edit: forgot to add, what is supposed to go in the CCcam.cfg file of the server?

    I know what goes in the clients and thats correct.

    the server is effectively a client to itself so put in this exact line:-

    N: localhost 6667 server server 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    (localhost is converted to 127.0.0.1 by the dreambox dns itself.)

    In the newcs xml file which resides in var/tuxbox/config create a user called server and password server.

    In the server cccam.cfg file that is the only entry required, feel free to delete the ENTIRE contents of that file except the one line.

    Grab a copy of z80's Gemini image which works a treat Frank for C1.
    And the 'Gemini Platin' skin is pretty cool as well.

    Thanks for the tip z80 have just made the changes now.

    Something weird is going on here. My old dual LNB is exhibiting the same symptoms as the quad I had on earlier. Is it possible these boxes are frying my LNB's?? WTF!

    Frank, I am not positive as to what your problem is but have you adjusted the skew of the LNB or not?

    I simply replaced my single LNB for a dual and did not adjust the skew.
    I had horizontal and vertical clashes between boxes becuase of this.

    ie. Watching a vertical channel on 1st box and switching 2nd box to a horizontal channel which would cause the 1st box picture to freeze.
    Some strange results were noticed.

    I then simply adjusted the skew which solved my issues.

    some did suggest mgcammed 1.25 yet to try it.

    hubba-bubba: yep both LNB's are rotated to approx 7-8 o'clock position

    Chieflets: I did try 4.10 with CCcam2.0.4 - it stopped the glitches but now I have the LNB prob again

    ok i tried adjusting the skew in both directions and the overall signal when/if it locked was worse. The skew is correct.

    Vertical signal holds lock however when it changes to Horizontal everything just drops after 5 secs (almost like the LNB has crashed if you can imagine) the onlt way to get vertical back at this point is to reset the LNB settings in Satellite Config

    Strange...???

    It does sound strange.

    Becuase of all the additional tinkering happening, I would be earthing your LNB outlets.

    Check the tuner voltage levels on each box to confirm you are indeed getting the 13V (Vert) and 18V(Horiz) when switching between channels.
