I Live in Geelong and still have no access too small an exchange
It Bulls#*t
Internet is over priced and slow in oz compared to other countries

I tried to get it a few months ago, when it first came out with 1mbps throttle, but no TPG Adsl2 ports left, only had Telstra and Iprimus, so iprimus it was 130gig and 64kpbs throttle $49.95
If you read reviews ppl reckon very slow, dropouts and dumb tech
I have Tpg's ADSL2+ 120GB plan (now the 130GB)
And I can say, Its great. We have never had a drop out, our download speed (measured by oz speed test server brisbane) is 11Mbps, which is not half bad. uploads aren't counted in download quota, and i get .9Mbps,
All i can say is 49.99 it ROCKS!
The exchange I am on is at chapel hill in brisbane, I live in Indooroopilly.
Well Australia has large geoggraphical areas to deal with with a small head of population for each square kilometer.
In Taiwan ( third world apparently lol ) where I live sure it's easy to get fast internet mostly on fiber.
Also it is uncapped with no limits which makes it nice to visit streaming sites such as Sky Player from the UK to get TV content.
Yes ... regional area's always last to get it and pay high prices ..

At least in a Metropolitan area you have a fighting chance of getter better services than those of us who live over the 'Grass Line'.
For us 'Regional's', this 'Grass Line' is the same as the 'Glass Ceiling' is for women who try to be 'High Fliers' in the corporate world.
Always talked about, looked over but seldom considered in the 'Broader' scheme of things.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Hmmm, note we live in the same town and have recently upgraded to ADSL2+ with Internode. It may not have a massive download deal as above, but its actually the extra things (usenet, download mirror etc) that we find value in. My download allowance has effectively doubled at the same price point!
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them - Albert Einstein
Still not a lot choice for regional .. NON enabled adsl2+ (through telstra exchanges) low data and high prices .. example :
$139.95 180GB adsl 2+ Non
$89.00 210GB adsl2+ Enabled
Trust thyself only, and another shall not betray thee.

I'm so far content with my TPG 130gig @ $49 also with the $14.99 for $300 worth mobile calls(Optus network) . . . . .
I would like to upgrade to the TPG 180gig @ $49plan or even the new 500gig @ $59 plan sound great but these two plans count uploads as well :-(
Over the past several months since i've been with TPG i have noticed the speeds in my area gradually getting slower and slower as many people must be churning accross from other ISP's because of the high download limits and cheap prices TPG have be advertising on TV,Radio and various newspapers recently.
Best thing I ever did was move to TPG ADSL2+.
747MB file @ 2MB/s = 6mins to popcorn time

I will warn against TPG, thweir customer service, customer relations and technical teams are all useless. I live near La-Trobe Uni in BUNDOORA, VIC - if you're on the same exchange as me (the exchange located Corner Plenty rd / Grimshaw st), are getting MUCH WORSE speeds than you could obtain elsewhere for NAKED ADSL2+ services.
Current speed tests via TPG mirrors and also tests directly from their website will reveal Naked ADSL2+ speeds ranghing from usually 4MBps to SOMETIMES a rate 10MBps. Of course, you take into account how far away you are from the exchange as that contributes to the maximum obtainable speed, but i should be getting a minimum of 12MBps - as when you think of it, thats 50% of the max. achievable speed on 2+!

You're forgetting that traffic experiences bottlenecks somewhere along the line. Your network card for eg. may be 100Mb/s, which is 12.5MB/s. So with the comment you made about getting a minimum of 12MB/s, you are expecting to be at 96% capacity @ 100% of the time. It won't happen.
Or people who are stuck behind Telstra boxes in metro areas that will never get ADSL (i.e. no pressure to upgrade because they can get Bigpond cable instead) or ADSL2+ even though their exchange has boxes from Telstra, Primus, Adam, Agile and iinet.
Having a choice of ADSL1 people must be nice to have! Then again I should be thankful that Telstra laid down fibre optic cable because its an improvement over the 28k dialup I previously had.
Thus the only reason I support the NBN (don't care about speed arguements, its competition dammit and broadband for all).
