Hi all,

I have an Asus F5R laptop that's rather outdated (i'd say 3 years old at least). The battery life on the original battery is not great but at least it's there - i can get about 1.5 hrs of use on the original battery which is a Li-ion 4400 mAh.

to try and get a little bit more battery life from my laptop i decided to buy a new battery and to upgrade to a 4800 mAh sort. now the new battery works only if the A/C power cord is plugged in - the battery light is on all the time however it doesn't look like the battery is charging at all and as soon as i unplug the A/C cord the laptop loses all power and won't start.

I have upgraded the BIOS software (a recommendation from the Asus website) regarding the new battery however it doesn't look like it's made any difference. The strange thing is the old battery does charge.

Any help would be appreciated...
