    Default panasonic rs485 protocol

    hey people,
is it possible to monitor the rs485 signal and find the codes(unless someone already knows them) used for controlling the panasonic WV-cs850 and WV-cs854 ptz cameras, such as menu, up down left right,enter,next...etc
i have a little program where i can control a pelco d device by manual commands,
so i cant see why a cant copy a code from a panasonic camera and manually send it,
    make sense?
    heres setup

    pc dvr==rs485 converter=======panasonic camera 1 and 2 inline
i need to access the menu, but there's no **free** software that can do camera 2,only 1,so if i can monitor the trial program and see what hex,or decimal, or whatever they are and save them in other program, it should work
any help would be good, (or **free not expire**)software for configuring panasonic cameras #1 and #2,possibly more

    thanks people

    Default Panasonic Protocol Commands

Each panasonic command starts with a STX = HEX 02 and ends in EXT= HEX 03
This can be sent in ASCII as CHR$(02) and CHR$(03)

The structure is as below but with out the spaces

    STX AD01;GC7 : 002 110 C ETX

AD01 : Camera Address in decimal
GC : Command header, GC:Camera Control Command
    7 : Number of commands. Refer Fig – 1
    002 : Command distination, 002:Camera functions,202:Receiver functions
    1 : Command type, 1:Control command, 0:Status request command, 2:Text data
10C : Function(1/250 ON), Refer table 1 Camera function command.

    Setup on - 0021940
    Setup off - 0021941

    Cursor up - 0021942
    Cursor down - 0021944
    Cursor left - 0021945
    Cursor right - 0021943

    Setup menu 1 - 002194A
    Setup menu 2 - 002194B

if pelco can do the same, without the "advanced" features.whatever they are,(what are they?)
then il set that camera #2 to pelco and config it with some FREE pelco software, or,. power-down the existing camera 1 and enable camera 2 as 1, and config it without existing camera 1 enabled,

    thanks for your help

still cant find any FREE, NO STRINGS ATTACHED, NO "FEES" ptz programming software for PANASONIC protocol. anyone out there know of any
only one i ever found was the ZMX, but it only configures camera #1 i need camera #2 and possibly up further up for any future cameras,

needs to be simple,GUI would be helpful,
im not as smart as all the super users in here,
    and im not a buisness,
i have expensive camera because it was cheaper than importing from china from a generic one..

the quality i have now, is fine just need to set it up so i can have it so its as good as my outdoor one the #2 is indoor, and it was pre configured for outdoor, so not inuf light, the iris is manual etc.

note, FREE , and PANASONIC protocol, GUI preferrable, must be able to do camera#2

    thanks if anyone can help

Good luck with your search but FREE and PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT typically don't go hand in hand

If there's an option via dip switches on the camera it's self, see if it allows setting to Pelco P or D protocol. You're probably more likely to find something supporting the Pelco protocols than Panasonic (albeit only slightly more likely)

From memort for this Panasonic model it is on the 8 way dip sw 6 on for Pelco protocol, with 1-4 being the camera address. On power up the onscreen should show SUB ____P__ if it doesnt, try sw 7 but I think that is for AD protocol
On the 4 way dip sw, 1 on and the rest off

bugger yea its p...i give up.... dam profesional stuff.. works so good, but wen it comes to now... errr....
thanks anyway, il keep hunting for some free stuff, or if someone has done something to some software that they arent supposed to... and use it...

wenn if anyone finds some, it would be helpful..

dvr software is diginet.. and it only supports the pelco d type NOT the p (and panasonic and lots more)

bugger it, il just put up with it, and put it to waste
    thanks... :-(
