I want to buy one of these.

I have one, it plugs between the keyboard and computer. Is that the type you need? I bought it a while back but it uses some form of encoding. In other words, it doesn't produce just the characters that are encoded into the barcode, but prints some auxillary stuff as well. I've had a bit to do with barcode scanners and most just print exactly the number under the barcode, but this one prints it in some form of encoding. I wrote a C app that decoded it once, but that's long gone, however it is possible to decode, I guarantee that. Anyway, it's in the shed so I'll post you a make and model tomorrow and you can do your own background checking to see if it is what you want.

Sorry mate, that's a CCD barcode scanner, need a laser unit.

The CCD units are very different.

    Speaking of Symbol....

Still got this one for sale (LS3408):

The widest range scanner in the world.
    It comes with these spares:

In case I ever made an interfacing mistake.
Not exactly new, but never used in any retail/business environment (only for software development)
Looks like the previous buyer bailed out, because a number of weeks isn't 24 hours.
It's the RS232 serial option, and the cheapest one on the internet at the moment I'll bet.
    Cheers, Art.

Is a Symbol LS-9100, brand spanking new still in boxes. Cant post pics at the moment. It is a dome scanner that sits in a stand, but u can also use it as a hand scanner, but not as easy to pickup as designated hand scanner.

    Cheers

might have to look closer at that one cause there is a returned funds entry in the account.

I'm buying Aral's magnificient scanner, since the previous buyer obviously couldn't get his ambi-dislexic fingers motivated.

I am interested in more than one unit so any more offers greatly appreciated.
