Question Xbox - what is the largest HDD that is compatible?

What's the largest HDD that I can fit into an Xbox?
Anyone know if it's possible to have the HDD changed (500Gb which is now full) and all my current files transfered to the new HDD?

it is possible, but alot of messing around as you need to flash chip with a 67 bios if you haven't already, format HDD in 32kb clusters and then try to clone the old one without reformatting over the 32kb cluster setup hdd(if you know what I mean)?

I actually just realised that Seagate don't even make a 1TB IDE HDD. I'll have to look at a 750GB then, that'll be big enough.

you need to either FTP or clone

you can upgrade a hdd to bigger one with Xenuim chip, but doesn't always seem to work. Have tried heaps of times.

Seagate make a 1TB sata hdd.

now you need to ask Mick if a sata to ide convertor would work?

In theory it should as all you are doing is changing the type of cable that connects to the hdd. but then again in reality it probably wont work.

yeah I couldn't see why it wouldn't work, but, personally I wouldn't go bigger than 750GB, that is heaps! I've done quite a few 750's and a heap of 500GB ones.
