Default SB Search & Destroy removing .dll files?

Was just trying to help some friends over the weekend clean the rubbish and pop ups off their laptops.

Ran Spybot Search and Destroy, them while removing the infected files you get those pop-ups windows saying "This file may be used by another program, blah blah" normally i leave them installed, yet this time in my hungover state i just deleted them.

Now when the laptop boots up... There are 2 pop up windows asking about .dll files which can not be started or similar.

I noted the names of the files and went looking to see if i could download them, BUT, no such file available... even No Results using Google.

Any ideas where to from here???

Sorry, i don't have the names of them with me or i'd post them.

    Thanks

Thanks mate... i'll get them sent to me.
Is there a Restore function i could use on Spybot S&D perhaps, then redo the scan and NOT delete them the second time around?

Can you try this method please.
go to all programs===Accessories===command prompt, once you in there type the following: sfc.exe /scannow
this utility scan your computer for all protected system files and replace any missing or modified file, you might be asked for the installation disk.

By the way have you tried a system restore back to a previous date before you done the scan?

They could very well be the dll's the spyware was using. You probably look into msconfig and see what startup apps are there and deselect any suspect apps (do a google search on the app name). Also be aware that some spyware apps use the same or very similar name to genuine apss but are in a different location.

Thanks ssrattus, Gawd, i have forgotten all these techniques.
I keep my own gear pretty clean and have no real need to be fixing things.... It's all different when you are working a 16 year old girls laptop, christ, there was everything on it, every addon, browser bits... just crap crap crap.... and they wonder why its slow and has pop-ups.
