    Default Dodo ADSL / ADSL2

Can someone tell me honestly about DODO ADSL & ADSL2 services. I know you get what you pay for, but are they really that bad? They are so much cheaper then other ISP's and still give decent enough Download MB's. I live far enough from my exchange that any ISP can't effectively provide me with decent ADSL2 speeds - I just go this way for overall price / upload speed and it is usually cheaper then ADSL1. I live 2km as crow flies about 3.2km as cable run. I get about 6mb speed on ADSL2 strangely a fair bit less when I was on ADSL1. Dodo classes my area as METRO now where all other ISP's still class it as regional, allowing me to get very cheap ADSL2 with 25GB on peak and 75GB offpeak. Thanks in advance for any advice / thoughts!! I am currently with PACNET and have been with Internode before - They are both very good ISP's - just a bit too expensive.

I agree. I tried them once and it was a very short stay.

Slightly OT, but I have a prepaid wireless broadband with dodo.... it's very ordinary.

I am told they use the Optus network for their wireless broadband.. if so, it's very disappointing.

What's also important (and maybe more on topic) is dodo customer service.

I had an asian CS person ring to tell me they are going to move my plan from pre-paid, to monthly.

I promptly told her under NO circumstances am I authorising any change whatsoever.

Don't go near dodo. The plans might look good but the speed is very erratic and they are very quick to block ports.

My mum and mum in law went for dodo. It was fine for their needs but when something goes wrong you discover quickly that they have no customer service skills what so ever. One has since left them and the other is about to jump as well.

    Hi Montessa,

My business is a reseller for Exetel and TPG. Have you looked at Exetel's ADSL2 plans? They are very hard to beat. If you have an Optus, AAPT or Powertel Dslam at your exchange you can use them.

If you want to know anything let me know.

i am in regional wa, with a telstra only exchange.

i use beagle adsl2, exceptional speeds, no port blocking and uploads aren't counted.....

no peak/off peak either. i regularly exceed my 50gig download with 80 - 90 gig upload for the month. good for keeping the torrent ratios up.

    never had any downtime either.....

I'm with Dodo on the ADSL2+ but on a Telstra exchange ( No other ISP's other than Telstra resellers available). Into my 3rd month and can't really complain. Getting good speeds and no downtime so far.

DODO wireless in the country is bad with a good antenna(external) you get 5 bars, but it drops out a lot even with 5 bars (97%) this is a neighbour's setup.
My self I started with Virgin wireless and had to use an external antenna also, got 5 bars (97%) all the time. But it would not go to all sites on the net no matter what you did. So I tryed Optus wireless(same antenna, same tower) 5 bars (97%) no problems. So I called Optus and asked why this was so when they used the same antenna and tower. The tech said that they save money by using cheaper computer programs, can't say no more. This is in SE Qld.

no complaints about the dodo 1.5mb i been on for yrs
    but, since i went adsl2 & it started @ 10mb & dropped to 3mb in a week
    that pissed me off
ok if it was only 3mb all the time i wouldnt winge + it has doubled my dl speed
but starting at 10mb & drop to 3mb is like when you go out once a yr & a 18yr chick gets hot on you then ditches you at the end of the night?
    its just prick teasing.
anyway dodo cant fix it and have no idea so i bundle it with telstra and i get a free iq box + the 50g insnt on\off peak.

ps. why? only dede & telsra offer me adsl2

Be interesting to see though if your speeds do get better or you have the same problem. Will be even more interesting if Telstra can sort it out if you do.

Dodo is actually pretty awesome. If you have any major dramas with them ask to speak to provisioning in Melbourne (office hours) and tell them you are thinking of leaving because speed/drop outs/customer service/whatever and then you'll receive some serious kiss-arse support.

I was with them for only a few months and I just churned to MediaMesh (a new mob offering unlimited adsl2 transfers for $90). I was on the regional Pallidium pack 75GB/150GB and the only reason I changed was that I was blowing my data limits a week into the new month. My modem syncs @ 22000 and that's pretty much the speed I received. I was buying up to 5 x 30GB data blocks extra each month and it was just too darn expensive, but compared to any other ISP, it was a massive bargain.

Everybody has their own experiences though..

I was with them and to me when something goes wrong there company name says it all.
THEY ARE A BUNCH OF DODO'S.
I would never ever go back to them no matter what they offered.
I am currently with australisit and I have never seen any better customer service from any company.
They send emails on ways of contacting them over holiday periods.
If you do have a problem they will even follow up with a phone call to make sure the problem has been fixed.
They are always genuine and upfront if there is a network problem which is extremely rare.
