Yeah. it all comes down to cost.
New LCDs are generally worth more than the laptop iteself.
But depending on the model 2nd hand ones can sometimes be found but still not usually cheap.
What is the laptop model you have and what size screen?

From my experience as a tech, the Toshiba screens are rarely worth replacing unless it's a particularly fantastic or fairly new laptop. We were quoting customers over $500 for second hand screens fitted, brand new was close to $1k.

Best bet is to try find one on ebay

If you look very closely under some light, can you see an image on the screen? Often the backlights or inverter boards die on laptop screens.

Also try put some pressure on the area at the top of the laptop where the power switch is, or give the screen a light twist. It's quite common for them to develop dry solder joints or have dodgy screen cables.

hey tooch, your right i can see a very faint image, thats how i managed to get the other monitor working on it.

Im not into spending to much money on it cos it didnt cost me to much in the first place. Looks loke its time for a new one. Oh well.

If that's the case then it's likely the inverter or backlight or the cable set for the inverter to backlight. Not quite as expensive to repair, but still a good couple hundred $$$

Should be around $150 or less to have the inverter replaced. If you were in WA I would do it for $100.

    It's a simple fix.

Usually a small pcb at the bottom of the LCD panel.

Usually cost about $30 for an inverter board.

can be done in under 10 minutes.
