    Default Martyrs

Where to start on this one.. Jeez.

This one was kept pretty quiet for a while and was released late year here in AUS.

First things first. If you have a mental list of movies that have stayed with you in the past for worse/worse I can say that this will probably be another one of them.

This is a movie that haunted me long after the credits rolled.

I don't want to elaborate too much on the story as I reckon it's one better to go head first into without knowing where its going.

It focuses on two main characters. One a traumatized young woman still coming to terms with horrible events that plagued her when she was a child. She extracts a plan of revenge on the people responsible but discovers something much more sinister..

This is about as full on as they come IMO. It delves into your fears and throws them around like a ragdoll.
It is graphic but is not stupid mindless torture porn (ala Hostel and saw VVXX11).

If your a horror buff you've more then likely seen it. If your a film buff, it is really worth a watch and has critics split down the centre.

But I've got a put a forewarning it is intense and doesn't really let up throughout.

Anyways would love to hear some input on those that will or have seen it as it's still toying with me 2 months after watching it!

    8/10

Yep, it's a life-changer this one. Every now and then you watch a horror movie, after which you're never quite the same again. This is one of those. It starts off like stock horror fare and then heads in a very interesting and unforeseen direction. One not easily forgotten.

Be careful with it, Z1gg, it's not for the faint hearted. Remember, you can't unwatch a movie.

    Can't read, mate? :P

There's certainly an art to subtitling - they are not all created equal. The fact that I can't even remember this having subs bodes well for the quality of subs in it.

Yep, that looks like it. Is that the part you got up to, Z1gg? If so, you missed out on the most interesting turn of the movie! It really goes off on a tangent after that point and the movie becomes quite special and unique in the horror genre. If you made it that far, you're really doing yourself a disservice by not sticking with it to the end.

It one of those movies you don't know where it is going. Maybe I'm hard, but I didn't really find anything scary or nightmarish about this movie. To me, it was another movie. It does keep one intrigued.

I found it mostly a bit of a yawn, but I am still unsure of where it ends.

    Interesting.

I liked the way it just leaves the question open at the ending..

    Then what?

On the same note there's another French horror movie called "Inside" which Is supposed to leave this for dead.

I did manage to find a copy of it and.. Easily the most graphic movie I've ever seen.

So if you digged this, you'll probably enjoy it!
