Default For anyone with serial port problems :)

    Gday,

If you are having problems with devices on your serial port - it may be because it is NOT supplying the power to the device. A registry hack for windows is available:-

    Use the registry editor (regedit.exe)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Vxd\VCOMM

On the EDIT menu, Click MODIFY, change 01 to 00, then click ok.

Exit registry editor and restart the computer.

This does work on Windows 98 and Me.

I think it is to do with the way certain programs have been coded and when they are used on computers with ACPI. The programs would mostly be MS-DOS based but also can have windows gui's and would NOT appear to have anything to do with DOS..

Anyway - if you have a program that refuses to work on a comport or hardware that refuses to work - give it a try

    Worked for me today ..

    James.
